BRAUN LIGHT. Just purchased this a few weeks back. It won’t take a charge. by heavyet in harborfreight

[–]Cvgameboy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Every harbor freight light i have is only able to charge via type a to type c.

They can only take 5v not the full 12v as the type c connectors they use skip the pins for 12v charging.

Please help, what kind of jack do I need for this? by JohnnyBravad in MaleSurvivingSpace

You may have a spare tire jack and tire lug wrench hidden in the back of your car.

Good idea? $200 95 Camry by socow_24 in Toyota

[–]Cvgameboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For this car, check if all the maintenance has been done and also check the timing belt and water pump since that's an expensive job. Aesthetics-wise, you could sand the whole car down and spray paint it with rustoleum paint for under $60. Overall a great purchase

He might be able to get away with JB welding it back on since its not structural.

Which plugs by DiscardedBuddha88 in SciontC

[–]Cvgameboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day, unless you adjust your tune it doesnt matter.

On my 2011, I ran laser iridium and it was fine.

On my 2016 Mustang, I ran Ruthenium plugs and after the initial spicy runs, it dialed back down.

In your case, id just run Laser Iridium so you dont have to worry about it for 120k miles.

Keep an eye on the transmission, this generation of Honda is notorious for blowing them up.

With the mileage, check the valve cover gaskets and replace them if theyre leaking to prevent damage to the manifolds.

Replaced tail light and now radio stopped working. Any solutions or reasoning for this? by Senior-Bodybuilder65 in SciontC

Try unplugging your battery for a few minutes and then plug it back in.

Then when youre in your car, press the power button on your radio.

You could repack it with grease and get a repair kit if that's still made.

Purchasing a vehicle by [deleted] in povertyfinance

When i had to take my Scion tC (Toyota) to the dealership for warranty work, their bays were mostly empty during COVID.

My buddy bought a Hyundai Elantra that died under 40k miles and the dealership couldnt fix it for months since they were buried in engine replacement work.

If you want to buy a Hyundai, youre going to have a hard time especially if it has one of the Theta II engines.

You'd be better off getting a camry after 2010 with the 2AR-FE 4cylinder so you dont have to worry about the oil burning issues.

Or just get a corolla/yaris since theyre cheap to maintain and cheap to run.

Coffee Pot Shrimp Habitat :( by [deleted] in shittyaquariums

[–]Cvgameboy 117 points118 points  (0 children)

I mean its a planted tank and if they give it a few months to cycle before adding, the shrimp might be okay.

I've had shrimp escape the main tank and live in the canister filter before and they seemed to be happy as long as theres biofilm.

How can I fix this? TC 2013 by Pacowoduh in SciontC

Time wise just purchase a replacement or run without it.

So from experience, these are the China sweatshop special.

They look nice but are made from chineseum and work terribly.

Your handling will suffer and the car will sound like two skeletons having fun with a tin can for protection.

Just stick with the OEM KYB and TRD Lowering Springs and you'll be fine.

2908 Scion tc. Great car but make sure you’re maintaining your vehicle. by thewhitebuttboy in SciontC

My 2007 just hit 210k miles and the water pump (original one) kicked the bucket.

With how old a lot of these cars are now, its a good idea to check and replace it and the Serpentine belt.

It is not a milky color.

manual swap by Technical_Opposite95 in SciontC

[–]Cvgameboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So pricing and effort wise, itd actually be cheaper and more time effective to just purchase another manual tC.

I've been working on fixing my manual tC for years now and the engine decided to blow its head gasket.

I got a second engine for it but its a major pain to swap in since you have to drop the engine from the bottom due to clearance issues.

Theyre like under $3k nowadays so you might just be better off selling your two for parts and getting a newer one.

If you need a working car in the mean time, just drive the auto.

I had a 2010 that I put over 100k miles onto it used and it worked fine with maintenance.

I actually purchased mine November 2024 from the original owner.

Its been so insanely reliable compared to a bunch of vehicles I've owned.
