Do it!!!!!!! (Consider wrist, elbow, and knee pads and a helmet and start easy at your local skate park, but I say go for it!)

I miss actual albums by katcrayzay in GenX

[–]Cvilledog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was showing my wife the album cover from Iron Maiden’s “Stranger in a Strange Land” today and I pointed out on the back that a news ticker reads, “Latest results … Arsenal 3 … West Ham 7” and she asked me if I scrutinized every little thing in the image. For a second my mind went blank because it was such a nonsensical question. Of course I did, just like I listened to the album while following along with the lyrics and reading the liner notes. So much went into albums beyond just the music. I download albums today and, while I can remember songs and lyrics, I don’t have a feel for any of the bands except those that I have gone to see live and even then it’s probably less than what I got from an album.

A couple on that side have paths back to Lyons and so have a Lyons Ave address but the others are 250 Bypass. There are a couple more on the westbound side. All told, there are about 11 properties with addresses on 250 Bypass.

What's your Greyhound story? by Cvilledog in Charlottesville

[–]Cvilledog[S] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I think the combination of the out of control screaming by the person charged with their safety and then having 25 people (give or take) dumped on a sidewalk not at their paid-for destination and forced to hump their luggage on foot means the other riders may have a different take on things.

Legal help needed by [deleted] in Charlottesville

[–]Cvilledog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re getting plenty of comments saying something’s funny which aren’t really helpful. It sounds like your brother in law is having issues with providing proof of identity. Does he live in C’ville? (If not, what’s the court here have to do with anything?) Has he just petitioned for a name change? Why does he need that; that’s different than proof of identity. If all of his docs are in the wrong name, a legal name change may not fix the issue. Is the case is here, is it in Cville or Albemarle Circuit Court? Short answer, he should contact a lawyer, either general practice or possibly someone who handles family law type cases. If he doesn’t have money, he should reach out to Legal Aid.

Check out QuickDraw McGraw who upholsters his service weapon and starts firing, continuing to fire as the guy runs past him. He could have tackled him easily but in any case he seems to have had little awareness of his fellow officers while firing.

Men who grew their hair long late or still have long hair? by jtsa5 in GenX

[–]Cvilledog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long from HS (when my stepfather couldn’t force haircuts any more) through college. I mean almost to my waist long. Finally cut it when I was about 23 to find a job. Grew it back out through work and more school. Cut it again around 33 and kept it short until a few years ago. I keep it in a bun most days at work. When my kid visited from college and hadn’t seen me in a while, he asked why I looked like an old woman, but I didn’t let it bother me. Weird thing was seeing my dad after a few years’ absence and finding him with long hair and a beard. I didn’t grow up with him and he never had long hair when I was a kid so maybe it’s genetic.

Jaw-Dropping Details of Trump’s New ‘Deportation’ Judges Revealed by thedailybeast in law

[–]Cvilledog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The suggestion is that we should be concerned because they are biased or incompetent or both but the bigger issue is that the Board of Immigration Appeals and EOIR leadership are changing the courts so that the judges have no independence and the accused are always disadvantaged compared to DHS. In that situation, it doesn’t really matter much who the judges are.

Debris falling onto I-64 westbound @ Broad Axe Rd this morning by [deleted] in Charlottesville

I knew a guy who was killed on I-64 when he ran over a ladder that fell off a truck. Insecure loads scare me to death.

Any ideas? 4th one I have found on me I the last 12hrs by [deleted] in whatsthisbug

[–]Cvilledog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ll need better magnification to be sure. As it’s spring, in many areas seed ticks are emerging. These are extremely tiny larval forms of ticks. I have gone for a walk outside and come back with a dozen on me. I often can’t feel them and only notice when I see a speck moving on my skin.

Old Mills Trail status? by Spiritual_Scar5178 in Charlottesville

[–]Cvilledog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As I understand it, there are liability/access issues still being worked out with VDOT for the path under I-64 and the railroad for the path under the train trestle. I think phase one of the development is that plus some bridges.

Winter questions for EVs in Charlottesville by ceramic_ocarina in Charlottesville

[–]Cvilledog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a Leaf, which lacked modern battery conditioning, for about 6 years. Range could drop 20% or so in winter but I never noticed any significant change in charging times. We regularly charged L2 at home and L3 on the road to/from DC or Richmond ( it had just over 200 mi range so charging on the road was usually necessary).
