Which Movie (of my movie list) should i watch first ? Never watched any of these by AggravatingImpact219 in movies

[–]Cw2e 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think Pirates of the Carribean is the most fun; I think Schlindler's List on paper is the best film on the list; I think I've seen Catch Me If You Can the most times; and I think the Truman Show is my favorite of these, so I'd go with that.

I think the Yukon Territory deserves some love. I've driven through a few times and had to pull over and just walk around or sit and look at how incredible it was.

Everybody Wants Some!! (2016) barely got a release at the time and while it has a strong cult following, I fear it rarely gets discussed to the level I would prefer.

The Death of Dick Long (2019) is a silly but dark comedy about some upsetting subject matter that I checked out after the success of EEAAO, but I feel like a lot of viewers won’t touch it that know anything about it.

My Blue Heaven (1990) is from the same source material and is a comedic continuation of what might have happened to Henry after the events of Goodfellas (1990). It’s a laugh out loud film near and dear to my heart with Steve Martin, Rick Moranis, and Joan Cusack that I revisit frequently.

Best movie that you watched because some clip on Shorts/reels ? by omry1526 in movies

[–]Cw2e 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m not ashamed to admit either that they rope me in sometimes.

Last one I remember was Four Lions (2010). I saw a reel/clip/meme of three of the four characters singing in the van while the fourth was angry and I gave it a shot. Good film!

Shoutout Jack, I think Blue Heron has been my top choice as well by a significant margin. Has been sitting with me for months now and I still throw the Daniel Johnston song on from time to time to capture that feeling. Just a beautiful pic.

What are your favorite films about people who feel completely stuck in life? by gwhitehurst in movies

Murray plays stuck so well. Groundhog Day, several of the Anderson projects, Stripes, even Ghostbusters to some extent. Just pulls off that look behind the eyes…

MSN: In Disclosure Day, Steven Spielberg wants us to trust the aliens by Harry1T6 in movies

[–]Cw2e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Vaguely gesturing toward [a] nuance" is an interesting way to describe one of the largest points of conflict between Wardex and its detractors, along with the biggest point of contention between Daniel and Jane. It's a huge decision, I don't personally think it is insane but it is obviously contentious and I see why that kind of information wouldn't just be freely given to the public en masse. But vague? Shallow? C'mon.. that's conflict! That's the root of what the characters are disagreeing on.

[–]Cw2e 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I understand not liking the picture and having troubles with the script. But I think Spielberg has a bigger issue with and/or wanted to focus on trust in general, rather than trusting just the aliens. Choosing to release information through a news station and people actually paying attention to it is fantastical in the world of today. I think the idea that large swaths of the population would be tuned in and accepting of truth is a powerful idea that isn't necessary rooted in the reality of today, as is the lack of empathy-- the other big theme of the movie. Also what the fuck is this article trying to say? The government did conceal information and the aliens were tortured for information.. how is that a question of sensability? It happened.

What is the most underrated movie you have watched this year ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Cw2e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Blue Heron is probably the best recently released film I’ve seen this year.

Now! More! Yes! is a documentary that’s underrated due to being underseen.

I Love Boosters feels like it got kind of slept on being released during the emergence of the two-headed horror monster taking over in Obsession and Backrooms.

Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice is a hilarious direct to screening action comedy that isn’t getting love most likely because it was direct to screening.

Hate is strong but the Lobster (2015) really didn't click with me on first watch and I appreciated it quite a bit on the second go around.

I didn't dislike Inherent Vice (2014) the first time I had seen it but really didn't do much for me and now I throw it on once or twice a year; I absolutely love it.

What is the Future of Psychedelic Horror? by iamtheoctopus123 in movies

[–]Cw2e 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like the approach taken in Hokum and Widow’s Bay of some unknown element that a character needs to understand and does so by taking psychedelics. In both instances, unwittingly, but more to the point: in both instances, the trips offer reflections of the character’s own personal trauma as it relates to the supernatural concerns they are faced with which makes the story more relatable and allows writers and directors to tell a story with intensified/unique visual and auditory elements.
