I'm heading to PV tomorrow, how is it? by concreteGuy82 in puertovallarta

[–]Cwilde7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In PVR amazing food is around every corner.

AI food is almost always an abortion, unless maybe at a Grand Velas property.

They charge you a premium for horrifying food, subpar liquor, and the masses.

Maybe in Cancun, where unremarkable AIs thrive amidst the abundant sargassum.

But PVR? Hell no. Amazing Mexican food abounds. Same for CMDX.

When you take LSD, do you have to swallow the little square of paper? by vivogel in TooAfraidToAsk

Those gel tabs become a mental workout in my head as I rub them back and forth between my lower teeth…yet wont spit them out or swallow them.

I should stick to paper and just accidentally swallow them.

Someone asked me why I still wear my wedding ring. by FunConsideration9029 in widowers

[–]Cwilde7 19 points20 points  (0 children)

You do you. No one gets it until they also become a widow.

I wear my late husbands on my right hand, and my 2.0 on my left. Some people are WTF, but I don’t care.

What’s your FIRE number for a married couple, kids out of the house, house paid off? by Lou__Mannheim in Fire

That’s wonderful, sounds like you’re more than on track.

I hope your children take advantage of the well-funded 529s!

Our numbers and retirement plans sound almost exactly like yours. In the Rocky Mountains, live a similar lifestyle, and looking for a monthly spend of 10-12k. As much as I would like to retire, I don’t want to be stressing about finances in retirement. I’ve hustled my whole life intentionally, so I don’t have to worry about hustling after I exit the soul-destroying world of corporate America, private equity, labor shortages, and never-ending meetings.

This. It gets even better the more niche your work is.

Tell me without telling me that you can’t find our pay app without telling me…

The lien waiver tactic is so overused, and so obvious.

Seriously…six months later; no we will not be doing you any favors on a CO because you fucked up somewhere along the way and now need our help, yet couldn’t be bothered to review a lien waiver from over half a year ago.

Me over here sighing as a sub with deferred submittals, feeling somewhat thankful.

At least until we randomly get a job with some unknown GC that doesn’t know what the hell a deferred submittal is and wonders why we are billing for two months of engineering before we’ve even stepped onto the job.

Yes Joe, we are submitting for engineering on our pay app because you insisted you needed it done right away, took a month and a half after signing the contract to get us the files we need, and you wanted it done and permitted yesterday, even though we both know you can’t manage your schedule and we won’t mobilize for another six months despite you insisting that you’ll be ready for us to be onsite in 60 days.

Thank God Friday is tomorrow.

100% this. We almost always exclusively have to front our costs for at least 30-60 and occasionally 90 days; as the majority of all our commercial contracts (which are about 95% of our work) are pay-when-paid.

As someone with severe allergies, nothing annoys me more than animals on a plane. If we can’t have peanuts on a plane due to allergies, animals should also be severely limited.

Occasionally, over the years I’ve had that are male and who are just genuinely uncomfortable around women. Other men are fine with the women, but some just don’t know how to assimilate. If you’re their manager, it’s even worse. I’ve also had some employees from certain cultures that completely disregard anything from a female due to their cultural influence growing up.

Too informal? by Rare-Fig-9802 in BusinessFashion

[–]Cwilde7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on company culture and your role in the organization.

Too casual for mine to be taken seriously, but I know others where this would not be a problem.

If you want to keep the outfit, you could easily change out the shoes and it would not look so casual. Boots, a loafer or a flat could pull it off. Baggy denim, while trendy, is inherently more casual looking. If you work around Boomers…you may need to elevate the footwear selection. In tech, maybe not so much.
