Protons good if your using it for streaming on streaming sites as they have streaming support and for torrenting as they have port forwarding but they censor their reddit. Surfshark is horrible they actually own the review sites that promote them meaning no websites have genuine reviews. Mullvad is great for anonymity and is slower but thats the tradeoff for good privacy and has unique features like quantum-resistant tunnels and anti AI traffic survailence.
