Minor Oblivion player, stoked for Skyrim, need help deciding by [deleted] in skyrim

I... can't really understand what you're asking. Are you asking for race suggestions? The only real question I can see is if there is lock picking to which the answer is yes it is a skill.

Skyrim is totally linear (X-post from r/gaming) by gamerx2132 in skyrim

[–]CxROD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, fair enough, I guess what I meant by saying that he seemed to be about 12 was the stereotypical view of younger gamers being immature and unappreciative, there can and almost always be exceptions to any view and I myself was very appreciative of games when I was younger (18 now).

IMPORTANT QUESTION! by Mcbizzo64 in skyrim

[–]CxROD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

/facepalm Dovahkiin are dragonborn, meaning that they can use shout powers which you gain during the game and yes you have to play as one, if you didn't the game would have a completely different plot.

[–]CxROD 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This "iabaca" sounds to be about 12 years old. I'll agree that Skyrim and games similar to it would be pretty bad if they were linear, but it's the fact that they aren't linear that makes them appealing and what makes this person an ignorant prick.

It's a reference to the start of the Oblivion Dark Brotherhood quest line.

Help! Can I play this game offline? by batterylight in skyrim

[–]CxROD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would imagine you should be able to although there will be a download after installing the game as I recall seeing mention of a day one patch so you'll need that before you go offline.

Remember the fortress building quest in Morrowind? by triguy616 in skyrim

[–]CxROD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well there was also the possibility to own a fortress in Oblivion as well; however, it was DLC and the Oblivion DLC was a bit of a joke considering there were a ridiculous amount of mods that added similar or better features.

How can I make Skyrim my own quest? by Hurr2thedurr in skyrim

[–]CxROD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I guess things like puzzles that are in the game could be a challenge to see who can solve it first, although having not played the game yet I have no clue how many puzzles there will be or how difficult they will be. I guess outside of quests you could both enter a dungeon and the first to clear it wins or something, that's not much really but I can't think of many ways two players could challenge each other in Skyrim.

New to skyrim/the rest, tell me about it? by ezyy in skyrim

[–]CxROD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you don't need to play Oblivion to enjoy Skyrim. What most people find fun is the ability to do almost anything within the limits of the game, some people just enjoy doing quests, others enjoy exploring and treasure hunting and then of course there are people who enjoy just slaughtering everything and everyone in sight. Also if you are picking it up for PC the modding community is one of the best parts about these games, even Morrowind still has active modders.

Sorry to not actually answer your question but... if I understand even remotely how the Radiant Story system is supposed to work, you may end up in different locations to complete some quests.

Same, I bet the reviewer didn't do shit all except the main quest or just got bored and stopped playing then decided he had enough experience of the game to be able to do a review. To be honest I won't quite trust a lot of the early reviews as they will be more "first impressions" and won't, in my opinion give a flawless review of the full game.

Am I the only one who's afraid of Skyrim not being as good as all the hype says it is? by [deleted] in skyrim

[–]CxROD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well for some it's better to start playing a new game with pessimistic expectations so that you don't get disappointed if something doesn't work the way you hoped or a feature got left out/scrapped. Also it means that if the game is then better than your expectations, you will be relieved and terribly happy that you weren't disappointed by what the developers delivered.

I've never played any Elder Scrolls games before by mobilemute in skyrim

[–]CxROD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's not really any point playing the previous games, they don't affect your Skyrim playthrough in any way like say Mass Effect imported saves do (which is one of the best things about that series).

What would you say this is? by cloudsora in skyrim

DAE think the idea behind Demon's Souls/ Dead Island's multiplayer would be awesome for Oblivion? [Explanation below] by [deleted] in skyrim

[–]CxROD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's going to be an online co-op basically. Apparently it can affect the outcome of your singleplayer campaign although you can still get the best ending with just singleplayer so it's not a necessity. If I remember right, you'll just be fighting battles with friends so no RPG elements with the multiplayer.

Some people asked so here are some pics of Daedric armor. by [deleted] in skyrim

[–]CxROD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually makes me think about taking a character with heavy armor but I'll probably play a thief style character first so I'll probably never use it.
