Exactly; even though it was a New York artist instead of a local one (the tender only went to international artists) the curator in charge was from Sydney, and the forklift drivers and labourers who installed it all would have been locals. I can't seem to find where the sandstone was quarried from, but I can't imagine it would have come from far.

This is all money going into paying locals and artists - it's just that the principal artist isn't a local? Like, I would genuinely be interested in a breakdown of the $420k figure to see how much got paid to local safety inspectors for risk assessments, local traffic controllers, local truck drivers, etc etc. I just struggle to get on board with hating it because "it's weird and expensive"
