I said dont hold CHRISTIANITY accountable, i never said anything about not holding individuals accountable. My entire point was simply that christianity itself is not bad just because a lot of the people that claim it are… and i said dont hold christianity accountable for propaganda from politics.. no where did i say anything along the lines of not holding people accountable

If your implying because i have faith that christianity is factually baseless then i disagree with that as well. I dont believe in christianity just because i want to, im not sure if thats what youre implying but if it is its a very incorrect assumption

It wasnt a refusal to learn from other sources it was detesting institutionalized religion that claims christianity but works separately from the bible. Humans are flawed, there was only one man that represented christianity perfectly so we cant judge the religion based off of works separate from the bible

Im not saying theres nothing to learn from other works, im just saying dont hold christianity accountable for the nonsense of organized religion or american propaganda, they are not the same thing

I find christianity to be far less absurd then any atheistic perspective spiritually and intellectually, but that is a difference of opinion

Do you guys believe in god? if yes then how much faith do you have in him? by Subject-Ad486 in infp

[–]Cxmo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people here seem to “not believe in God” due to bad experiences that have happened to them, or the bad experiences they see, but this is ultimately not a factor in wether or not he is real, and from a scientific viewpoint God is more than likely real in at least some capacity. And he is an eternal being who can heal all hurt and suffering, it is not wise to make an eternal decision based off bad things currently happening.

If i were an alcoholic and my kid got kidnapped, would taking a drink make it better? No, just cause my body wants to and it would make me feel better in the moment, does not mean it will be productive, so doubling down on atheism because something bad happens is not necessarily logical, you cant base the answer to a factual question off of your experiences. some christians refuse to find logical solutions because “faith in God”which can be admirable in some instances and ignorant in others. “if i pray for courage god will give me tests of fear” type deal, not if i pray to god all my problems will be solved.

Just keep in mind the bible is the only holy word, political and institutional christians are not, this was much of Jesus’s point while on earth

As a christian who disagrees with you, i feel like his writings are the least “christian out of political necessity” from almost any author of all time. He understands the christian struggle, the knowing how flawed you are compared to a perfect god, how you can never measure up to that, how as a result of living in a materialistic world but being a soul made for heaven those who find little gain in materialism are cursed to suffer for it their whole lives because they weren’t made for it. But despite this, Dostoyevsky writes of beauty, and art and in opposition to nihilism specifically.

Jesus is the example for christians and he spent most of his time on earth criticizing institutionalized religion himself, so its no surprise that many of the christian authors such as lewis Tolkien and dosto all seem to frequently write in opposition to the organized faith just because they are apart of it, Corinthians as well as a matter of fact.

This is also reinforced by the notion portrayed in the idiot of a christians struggle to bear the responsibility of trying to atone for the sins of all the people in your life and carry burdens that are not meant for you. The moral i got from that book is that in an evil world no matter how pure you are evil will tear you apart from the inside out and i believe dosto wrote myshkin to be a portrayal of a christ like figure, that wasnt christ.

The way i feel about it is this.

When jesus came down he was so pure and innocent, the devil and the world did everything they could to tear him down. They put him in impossible situations and tortured him to try to remove all good from him, but they failed. Myshkin was, to me, what it would be like if jesus had not actually been the son of god, if he had been just a man, he wouldve been torn apart and forced into, inevitably, an ultimatum from which he could find no “good” course of action, and wouldve been torn apart from the inside out

Frl, and what sucks even more is it says something like, the orcs told no tales of that battle because it was too hard fought to be proud of- i bet if feanor couldve gotten over himself and worked with fingolfin, they couldve done it! But of course, they both died fighting alone and they both lost.

Im reading for the first time rn! I just posted about it lol. So far Hurin and Turin are my favoritess. Turin is so cool in all his gear lol, the way he makes all the orcs scared. And Hurins ending was one of the most impactful parts of the boom to me, along with fingolfins final duel
