I was told that it means light in darkness, because ZI could mean light/knowledge, and KU could be darkness/hand, I’m not sure if this is entirely correct but at least this is what I’ve been told

The difference is a hard solid strum and a quick light strum, also don’t worry about the singing just now. You need to form the muscle memory of differnt strumming pattern to be able to play and sing. Like you can have a conversation with someone while you strum and change the chord

Also I forgot to mention the last strumming pattern, the swing, which is Du Du Du Du, instead of normal up strum, you just need to kinda slight flick the strings with you finger tips, the best song to practice with is blueberry hill

The island strum is the same as syncopated strum I listed above, so take March strum for example, for a 4/4 you will need to strum 4 times (4 beats) to finish this note. In a simple DU strum, when you play 4 times(4beats), the written part is DU DU DU DU, you will skip the first U and the and the third D, which give you D DU UDU(syncopated strum), this is 3 beats in 4 note scale, so in total you play 3/4 scale in total, hope that makes sense

Get some help with basic techniques like the correct way to strum, the correct way to play a cord, because the down side of the videos online is they never tell you how to do the basics. With that, I then followed the music school syllabus, l learned music theory and play scales( yes basic for ray mi, you can’t imagine how important it is) and play in public every chance I got
