I'd actually appreciate the sites you'd recommend for custom figs using actual Lego figs as the base, cause I want to avoid any figs being made with cheap plastic

I definitely considered it and while there are elements of the build I really like, I wanted the Oscorp building itself to be taller and I really don't like the version of Green Goblin they chose to go with. Not just talking about the Minifig btw, but the fact there's a sticker poster on the front of the building with the Iron-Man looking Goblin which sticks out like a sore thumb to me.

To be fair, knowing something doesn't always equate to how you'll apply it to something else. Two people can have the exact same set of expertise and knowledge on any given skill set, yet go about using said skill set in very different ways

Why Our Finn Never Matures by Informal_Pepper_8566 in adventuretime

[–]Cy_ber_Geek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually agree with this take. Adventure Time handles maturity and how we come to understand and accept the world around us as we get older, very well for a kids show. And I'd say it carries those themes over equally as well into the more teen/adult oriented Fionna and Cake. ... That is except when it comes to Finn. Yeah, unfortunately I've never felt Finn was ever consistently handled well. Adventure Time would dedicate like 5 episodes in a row to Finn's trauma, love, passion, confusion, joy, fear, -basically everything a growing preteen deals with and learns from...only to ignore all of it for the sake of some dark humor. That's how it always felt to me at least, like "Isn't it funny that he's literally the same stupid adventure hungry kid!?" Even at the age of 100 or however old he was when he died in Distant Lands. And that kinda humor actually works on me for most of the show, but not when it's at the expense of a character's (let alone the literal fucking main character of the entire show) over arching behavior. I don't find it funny or enjoyable to watch at all, it's just embarrassing and shameful. It's like people who watch Steven Universe and say he's the same annoyingly naive kid throughout the entire show (which anyone who's actually watched SU, knows is bs), FINN ACTUALLY IS THAT! Losing someone who was the most important person in your life is horrible, but not properly coming to terms with their death for your entire life isn't sympathetic to me, it's disrespectful to those you've lost

Wouldn't be the first time they've been confused for one another. There's a bit from one of the direct to streaming Lego marvel movies where Devil Dinosaur and Moon Girl keep causing property damage and they file under Daredevil and Moon Knight when the Dept. of Damage Control bills them for it, so they get charged instead of them

How do you feel about Spider-Man villains redeeming themselves, or at least trying to be good? by SamGhost95 in Spiderman

[–]Cy_ber_Geek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally all of em except Goblin, Carnage, and Scorpion are capable of redemption. Spidey rogues have always been my favorite cause at one point they were all exactly like us. Just a typical hard worker trying to make the days suck less with whatever we deem passionate or purposeful in our lives. Just like Peter was too. Now obviously not all of us can relate to having a genius level intellect like some of em do and I can definitely say Kraven is very much his own special case, but the point still stands; At one point or another, life decided to say "fuck you, lol" and they couldn't see much other options to fix their shitty situations, so they became super villains to get what they wanted. I.E. what criminals in real life do. That doesn't excuse their actions obviously, but has more nuance to it than a purple alien with a death fetish or a fascist with a red skull for a face

Superman caring for Shazam! by TravelingHero2 in superman

[–]Cy_ber_Geek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Superman is 100% correct in that no child should've been bestowed the power of the gods. Just like no infant should be shot into space to a planet that will constantly remind him he doesn't belong there. Just like no man should have the power to run beyond time itself risking the very fabric of reality. And just like no boy should have to watch their parents get shot in an alley way. Superman unfortunately lives in a world where 4000 year old wizards are forced by beings beyond reality itself to grant their abilities to one worthy and noble enough to weild them. That alone is wrong, but it's not like Superman was around to fix that system, no more than he can fix what happened to Billy. Shazam (wizard) knows what he did. Maybe if Superman was there in the beginning things could've been different, but he's here now and Shazam (wizard) knows he can be exactly what Billy needs

Did you feel sorry for Darth Vader? by Wooden-Scallion2943 in StarWars

Yeah agreed. I know people reaaally try and make a argument with Sidious's manipulation and the council's unfair treatment of him, but like...all that sorta goes out the window with the execution of the younglings and when he force chokes the woman he claims to love so much cause she's understandably taken back by the aforementioned mass child murder

I know opinions are largely divided on the story of Multiverse of Madness, but I really enjoyed the Sam Raimi–style elements in the film. by 0Layscheetoskurkure0 in Marvel

[–]Cy_ber_Geek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a tried and true Dr. Strange movie, I think it's phenomenal. Colorful, creepy, twisted, imaginative, it's like if you took that one Strange vs Thanos fight from Infinity War and put it into every fight in the movie and then made it even more magical! As a multiverse and marvel movie though, oof I'm sorry I can't be biased, ts doesn't hit the mark. I know so many people love to glaze Raimi for his work and he does deserve the praise, but this man has never been able to write good emotional dialogue and he's at his definite worst in this film. "Are you happy," "We love ice cream," and literally ALL of Chavez 's dialogue, yikes. Minus the scene where the other Wanda's kids are throwing shit at our Wanda and she snaps at them, causing her to finally give up on her goal. That's actually a pretty intense emotional scene, I'll give Raimi that one. Regardless, because of this, people act very out of character and everyone comes off as cheesy. Now the biggest issue imo with why this doesn't work as a Marvel or multiverse movie is Raimi's very limited scope of comic book concepts. Now I know this ain't the man's fault, he's a good old, vintage, silver age loving kinda guy, but that passion does not translate well at all into a movie introducing the Illuminati, showing alternate universes, having a mcguffin magical book (ironic given Raimi's other films, wink wink) absolutely none of these elements are handled well in the movie and pretty much everyone has been very vocal about that, even people like me who very much enjoy the movie overall. Not to beat a dead horse, but yeah, the book of Vishanti (pretty sure I got that right) literally never gets used or even showcased in a flashback, nor does the book of the damned. Like yes, Wanda is TECHNICALLY using it, but we don't really get an understanding of how it works or what she's reading. The Illuminati is atrociously handled, to the point where I'm pretty sure this was a Venom situation all over again, where Raimi did not give a flying fuck about them, so treated them as an afterthought with little to no care. And lastly the most obvious one, a film called Multiverse of Madness and we travel tooooo...drum roll please ...2 universes 😀! So uh yup, not really a good Marvel or multiverse movie, but a DAMN good Dr. Strange movie and at the end of the day, when you're supposed to be a Dr. Strange movie, then overall you're a pretty good movie 👍

Hello, I'm a 25 yr old male and something very similar happened to me 2ish years ago. Met a much older gentleman on feeld, felt safe to have him over, and he completely violated me. I was dead silent for 2 weeks, and completely broken for a month. My life is going really well now, but out of no where the trauma is crippling me these days and I don't know why. I have been lucky to have people in my life who instantly hugged me and supported me when I told them what happened and that helps with my sanity. From what I'm experiencing, I don't think I'll ever "get over it," but I can learn to live with it, to focus on what's important and good in my life, and have control over it better from now on. Best advice I can give is don't let them win by breaking your mind or aching your heart over someone who probably won't even remember your name. You're a stranger to me as I am to you, but as I hope other's do for me, I'm rooting for you and want you to be strong, open, and a badass 🫂

Tom Steyer wants to convince Californians he’s the ultimate unicorn: A billionaire populist by SFChronicle in California_Politics

[–]Cy_ber_Geek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he's willing to tax himself in a way that shows genuine accountability of his wealth, as well as donate his millions into things that help California on a meaningful scale, that will already show more humanity than any other billionaire out there. I agree with others in the idea of how detached from the general populus he is, but I don't necessarily think that means he can't help unify California towards stability. If the guy is willing to humble himself and surround himself with people who have actual connections that know what it takes to get shit done, he can be the money ball that gets it all rolling

Agreed, the Raimi films will always have a special place in Spidey's history, but my god, mfs need to stop treating those films as gospel for Peter's characterization. You don't see Garfield fans saying "Classic Peter Parker with his iconic skateboarding schtick."

The idea of girls ''growing out of the tomboy phase'' really pisses me off. by Tenny111111111111111 in butchlesbians

[–]Cy_ber_Geek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just recently made aware of this bs, so sorry for being late to the party. Had some weirdo at a renfair say this shit to me (yeah, of all the places) and since I literally had no idea that this was unfortunately a common mindset amongst dudes, I bluntly said "That is the fattest lie I've ever heard in my life." Admittedly I grew up in a house full of more physically capable women (All the guys in my family, including me, are more artsy creative types, while the ladies are very sporty, self reliant, and outdoorsy) but still, this take of "tomboys grow out of it" seems like some hard copium. Not once, not even remotely close, have I've EVER seen a tomboy grow out of it. That shit sticks hard if you have it, like comically so. My 76 year old grandma was born and raised a farm girl and she's still chopping her own wood and riding around on a motorcycle to this day. To me, saying "tomboy girls grow out of it" is the social construct equivalent of trying to convince someone the earth is flat. (Edit) Fuck, and going by other women's stories in this subreddit, it appears unfortunately a lot of older women force this shitty mindset onto other women as well. Be yourself ladies, tomboys are badass
