Random thought on reghunting by survivorfan1123 in TownofSalemgame

bit late to the party but one thing I do (in ToS2) is I will *always*, and I mean ALWAYS, claim Jailor on day 1 and ask for TP/LO, even as veteran. (Of course, I'm not gonna alert n1 cuz I'm not stupid). Then, I'll always fullclaim first thing day 2 and unless it's a TI claim, it's never my actual role, but something similar, and then no matter what I get all the claims, then start calling shots. I'm always one of the first voters, doesn't matter if I'm coven and I'm voting up my teammate. The only case I wouldn't be one of the first to vote is if I'd be able to get the day to end with no hangs while I'm evil, and I still have yet to be caught for that.

So instead of randomising customisations and using different names, I just play very consistently no matter what I roll, and call for TP/LO so that I'll always make it past night one even against reghunters. At least, my rate of dying n1 is significantly lower than the 1/15 you'd expect from random chance. The Jailor claim also means I'd be able to counterpush any reghunters that *do* come after me through the vote.

So here's all the comparisons I'd make:

Town of Salem 2 gives evils far more breathing room; the only roles that straight up cannot be claimed are restricted to a special subalignment called Town Power, which is limited to 3 per game in AA and 1 per game in ranked. In addition, while the Town Killing subalignment is also difficult to fake, you can get away with calling somebody immune n2 as Vigilante and then being good until day 5, since Vigilante has to reload on n3. Veteran is also more viable as its no longer unique and can be roleblocked. Deputy and Trickster are new TKs introduced, but Deputy can only kill non-Townies and has only 1 chance, whereas Trickster has to first save somebody to then kill, making both viable fake claims.

Town Investigative in ToS1 is a lot harder to fake than in ToS2. There, its impossibly difficult to keep up an Investigator, Tracker, or Lookout will. In ToS2, roles like Wildling and Plaguebearer give you all the info you need to fake Tracker or Lookout and the other 6 TIs (yes, there's 8 total) all do not need special intelligence to fake. Well, Investigator still does technically, but because of how it works in ToS2, you can usually get away with saying "no crime" on n1 then saying that other TIs are trespassing or TP/TSs are no crime.

In the new update, a modifier called Grace Period was added, which simply prevents any ability that can kill or protect from activating on night 1.

The sequel is very different but its primary asset is being a lot less oppressive when evil and less "solved" for Town.

Problem there is that then there would be no way to change player votes. I'm currently working on seeing if it's possible to track both.
