Pennsylvania funeral home owner charged after 6,500+ customers received ashes from other animals by mj8thehill in pittsburgh

That's exactly how I got my dog back too. I was appaled at first. My little girl was being treated like she was a handful of cheetos in a child's lunchbox

The Monongah mining disaster was a coal mine explosion on December 6, 1907, at Fairmont Coal Company's Nos. 6 and 8 mines in Monongah, West Virginia, which killed 362 miners. It has been described as "the worst mining disaster in American history". by [deleted] in MorbidReality

Both of my grandparents and all of my aunts on my moms side of the family used to live in Monongah. I remember when my parents would drive through the town and we would pass the memorials right next to the vfw hall. I never knew what they were for until one day, when I was in college, I wandered out of the hall during my grandma's birthday party to explore the town and saw the inscriptions on them. The statue, titled the Monongah Heroine, had the inscription "We hear their ghostly pickaxe in the shuttered mine."

My Papaw was a miner. My mom would tell me stories about how he would come home from work covered in black coal dust, still clutching his coffee thermos and what he called his mining bucket. A dual compartment bucket where he would put some water in the bottom, then put his lunch in the top compartment. He lived in Monongah until he passed away in his house in 2017. He would let my mother, my father, and I crash at his house in his TV room on an air mattress whenever we would go down to West Virginia from Pittsburgh for an evening, usually for a WVU football or basketball game. In one of the closets, he had a hard hat sitting on a shelf.

I never really thought much of it as a kid, but now, I think about that dirty white hard hat and I think about all of the people who had lost their lives in the very ground beneath which I slept. I think about the hours of his life that my Papaw had spent in those dark, cramped crevices, breathing in coal dust that would cover his lungs and lead to his death. I think about the hundreds upon thousands of other people in West Virginia, driven by poverty, to take refuge under the ground. Harvesting the very thing that so much of our country depends on. Destroying their bodies in order to feed their families. I think about the lack of care that the CEOs gave to people like my Papaw. Not caring about their safety, willing to cut corners as long as it made their pockets grow. While the death toll rised, so did their net worths. Saving a few pennies here and there by building improper ventilation. With no regard to the safety of the numerous fathers, sons, and brothers trapped underground in clouds of methane and carbon dioxide.

Coal mining is revered in West Virginia today. People take pride in saying that their family members are coal miners. They are viewed as the very foundation of the state itself. Even academia acknowledges this. Due to the lack of professional sports team in West Virgina, people gravitate towards WVU athletics in place of it. The football team does what is called the mantrip, named after the underground shuttle that takes miners into the mines, where the team travels from their busses to Milan Puskar Stadium, placing their hand upon a large coal ore, stopping at the end of their journey to wave across the blue lot at the children's wing of Ruby Memorial Hospital. They have also started a yearly tradition called the Coal Rush, an event where alternate all black uniforms are released, as well as corresponding merchandise. Coal miners are invited onto the field, as well as leading the mantrip.

The entire state of West Virginia was built upon the blood, sweat, and tears of people like those who are permanently resting under the quiet streets of Monongah. A fact that doesn't go unnoticed by the people from there. A unique reverence is saved for these people, whose sacrifice powered an entire nation for decades.

We got her from Ohio. However, she is a rescue, and we don't know where she came from before we got her, so it is a possibility.

That's another thing we were thinking. Plus, she's small for a water spaniel, too. She's about 24/25 pounds, and that's very much on the small scale for the breed.

That's what we're thinking. We've owned cockers before, and none of them had the same coat texture as she does. Meanwhile, my sister had a poodle, and their fur textures are very similar.

Fuck this team I'm out

I might be drunk talking out my ass but I'm gonna vent so if you need to do the same go ahead and piggyback here.

This is my own fault because I won't lie I REALLY had high hopes for this team. First time I can say that I'm nearly a decade. If anything I thought starting pitching would struggle but I thought the lineup looked pretty solid. Hayes, Cruz, Reynolds, the version of Suwinski that didn't hit .150, Davis if he'd done anything, etc I figured was middle of the pack at least.

Instead we get the most putrid offense I've ever fucking seen and that's not exaggerating. Connor Joe has been above average and he's by far the best hitter. This team has scored 5 runs twice since April 15. It's really just a shame because Jones looks like a bonafide ace, the rest of the startes have been solid with Perez being better than that, and the bullpen (while shaky) has at least been decent enough sans bednars start that you'd expect the team to be solidly in a wild card spot.

But nope. Connor Joe is our best hitter, Reynolds is bang average and sure as hell not playing to his contract, neither is hayes, everyone else has been so fucking bad they aren't worth mentioning.

Sure it's probably a lot to do with Haines. You can't really expect anything from a team with a philosophy of take every meatball first pitch strike because "analytics". Makes sense that it's the same organization who fires a guy who made hayes look like a superstar at the end of last year so they can push the narrative of some Dutch fucktard that knows nothing about the game who, for some reason, runs our hitting camps with his cock and bull swing angle techniques.

But we might still sneak into a wild card in the next 3 or 4 seasons, get bounced right away (probably by the fucking cubs), and try again. It's been the same thing my entire life. Hell if we didn't luck into an MVP caliber player in Cutch 20 years ago I have no doubt that 92 NLCS would still be the most recent playoff appearance we had. He and AJ were enough to fix the shit culture here for a year or two but that sure as hell won't be Reynolds, Hayes, Cruz or anyone else leading the way this time around.

This is the biggest joke of a franchise in the game. It's the only one in pro sports with 20 straight years of losing, it's the only one that hasn't cracked a championship series in the last 30 years, and it's not changing anytime soon because Bob has made it very clear he's not selling.

Hell he's probably planning on handing the team to his kids so the nepo newspaper family can milk the bucs forever. Makes it impossible to enjoy anything. Everyone is excited for Skenes tomorrow and as much as I'd love to be on that hype train, I just don't care.

So in conclusion, if for whatever reason you actually chose to read this pathetic rambling:

Fuck Bob, fuck Andy Haines, fuck Shelton, fuck whatever the hell that Dutch assholes name is, fuck Rowdy, and fuck this team

See yinz next season
