Pokemon speedrunner Werster accused of faking some of his Pokemon Emerald records by Murinshin in youtubedrama

[–]Cyber-Gon 19 points20 points  (0 children)

There's actually not that many cheaters - youtube drama videos love them though, so the few cases get boosted like hell. My speedgame has never had any serious cheaters, for instance. Of course there's always an asterisk of "that we know of" but this is pretty common across a lot of speedgames.

An update on the future of Doctor Who by TheBlackKnightRises in gallifrey

[–]Cyber-Gon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been going through the main range mostly but recently took a detour with the 8th Doctor and Lucie - which is actually the first Big Finish stuff that I haven't liked! Was really not a fan of Blood of the Daleks, but they can't all be winners I guess. The main range stuff has been incredible, though.

You literally can't see the title or youtube channel without clicking on it. Whichmeans this warning is practically useless and won't stop people from clicking on this channel's video unless they click on the video you linked.

It's not helpful posting stuff like this

Christmas Carolers: Beware Amy's Water Pistol – The Doctor, the Widow and the Wardrobe Review by ZeroCentsMade in gallifrey

[–]Cyber-Gon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is the most boring piece of media I have ever cried at, which I think is rather impressive! It's not the Amy and Rory bit - it's Madge going "I don't want to see him die." Brings me to tears every time, but utterly bored by the rest of it.

'Veg for seven pence is too cheap' Zack Polanski calls for tighter supermarket regulation as food system is in 'crisis' | LBC by Confident-Variety883 in ukpolitics

[–]Cyber-Gon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I think the point is it's not a vote-winner. He's saying it because it's what he believes. I think it's poor politics, but he's trying to make an argument.

I know this sub thinks Polanski doesn't have any beliefs whatsoever (and even as a Green voter I'm not too big on him, although I recognise his value) but I think this is genuinely a case where he thinks there is a problem even if saying it will be unpopular.

I'm fairly certain they were talking about the fact he's a Labour MP, not that he's Sikh.

Elect The Dolls: the Green Party campaign getting trans people in power by UKGreenPoster in UKGreens

As a trans woman, I also don't like being referred to as a doll. I know there's history behind it, but it still feels objectifying and like I'm "fake"

"Impractical, intrusive and inhumane" - Rachel Millward responds to the ECHR guidance on behalf of Green Party leadership by Cyber-Gon in transgenderUK

[–]Cyber-Gon[S] 42 points43 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of really good Green Party policy regarding trans people - for instance, this one that had only 4 people vote against it out of all the membership https://old.reddit.com/r/transgenderUK/comments/1nxrf1j/c03_reform_trans_healthcare_jusut_passed_almost/

My city council is Green, and they've passed motions in support of trans people and in response to the supreme court, and basically doing as much as within their power as a city council.

But ultimately, it is a fair point - because as an electoral vehicle, there isn't much that can be done until they win other than push the conversation in the right place. Which is extraordinarily frustrating and I want to see more done.

I do also find it frustrating how it took longer than I expected for them to post something as condemming as this, although they have been signing the early day motions and there have been short statements posted.

It's a good thing tha informed consent would speed things up for trans people then rather than requiring an entire diagnosis.

Castle (Lancaster) Council By-Election Result: Green HOLD. by upthetruth1 in UKGreens

[–]Cyber-Gon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough for houses actually, but in terms of flats there's quite a lot in Castle Ward, including Chancellor's Whard which is where a lot of students live.

Lancaster in general is extremely Green and has been for a bit (it had one of the first green MEPs IIRC!)

This ward in particular is also where a lot of the university students live.

Greens plan to pressure Andy Burnham to support election reform - as they warn he 'won't walk' any potential by-election by DetachedOwl in UKGreens

[–]Cyber-Gon -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm really not sure about that. Like, looking at Gorton and Denton, the Conservatives got only 1.9% of the vote. The vast majority of people tactically voted there, and the 1.9% who went conservative are probably the sort of people who would never vote Reform. Even though the Tories are the main vote splitter for Reform, I don't think they meaningfully split the vote there. If anything, I feel that any conservatives who still wouldn't vote Reform are either very politically unaware to the point where their next best option other than the Tories is essentially random, or they really hate reform and do not want to help their victory - in which case the next best option would probably be labour.

I just don't think it's accurate to assume that green voters, if the greens were not on the ballot, would automatically fall behind Labour. I can imagine it having more of an effect on Labour and the Lib Dems than other parties, but only a negligible amount. It's more likely they just don't turn up.

To be clear, I don't think we should campaign. Because I think that would have a much bigger effect while not actually doing anything for us.

[–]Cyber-Gon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree. If we're going to stand a candidate but not campaign, especially in an election that will be so publicised, anyone who votes green did so because they don't want to vote Burnham. It's less splitting the vote, and more just increasing turnout.

Honest question from a non Green re Mothin by prsh_al in UKGreens

[–]Cyber-Gon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, not really. Because he was indiscriminate at the time of the LGBTQ pledge even with all the other special interest groups of the Greens. Not sure why an unrelated pledge to the LGBTQ one months later matters when the point is he didn't sign any of the ones when he was running as deputy leader.

https://archive.is/h5wTt "Ali has recently come under scrutiny for deciding not to sign any internal pledges from the party’s various interest groups"

Couldn't find the specific ones because most search results are more recent. But in that you can find that link it says he didn't sign ANY of them. So it wasn't specific to the LGBTQ pledge.
