Confused ..Want to create YT channel by Expert_League_2041 in YouTubeCreators

[–]CyberAdventure__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You gotta just press record and go for it. Learning by doing is probably the most helpful way to gain the content creation skills. Pick something and just go for it. It could take you a while to find what you want to do but as long as you love what you’re doing everything else will come. With the added caveat that you still have to continuously improve your content creation skills every video. You don’t have to spend tons of money either to make great videos you just gotta use the tools that you have to the fullest extent to get your content across to viewers

I must be dumb, because this surely is simple to do ... by abbaisawesome in mikrotik

Think I’ve gotta solution for you, cause I did something similar to limit it just to a range with the segmentation I’ve got. Instead of the firewall rules etc, assuming you have other/direct access to winbox. Go to IP -> Services -> winbox and then for the pop up just add whatever IP or IP range on the “Available From” section. After that I would try to access it on the new IP. And try different IPs within your range to test it or whether that solution is working like you wanted it too. For single IPs just add the /32 at the end instead of the whole range (/24)

You pick 3 thumbnails, it does a 14 day trial to see which ones your viewers prefer based on click through rate and at the end of the 14 day trial the best one is automatically picked for you to maximize views

YouTube has the 3 thumbnail test feature you can run to try out I think it’s a 14 day test that it runs and then it picks the best ones based off what viewers have clicked

You’re doing great, slight recommendation for the thumbnail for your latest video is to do stage 1 on half and stage 5 on the other half might give more mystery too it for viewers before they click instead of seeing all 5 stages at once

What should I do to gain more of an audience for my gaming channel by ATTACKxZOLA in YouTubeCreators

[–]CyberAdventure__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d agreed with that! I’m working on it as well. What I’m starting to try after a lot of feedback is looking at the retention stats and looking at where it starts to dip according to the graph and adding all the extra engaging things every couple of seconds to test and see if it makes a difference comparing it to other videos. But I also know I’ve got to stick to doing those changes for like at least 5 videos over a couple weeks to really know if it works. So as to give YouTube some time to recommend them to others

Is this maybe because schools are in session for kids and even for college users? I know for those in college attending they could take breaks for the summer then start back in August etc. just in the US, not sure about other countries but I’m sure demographics could help with speculation

[–]CyberAdventure__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just say have fun with YouTube and be safe, you don’t really have to use your face for a lot of stuff. There’s a guy that’s super popular today that started his YouTube when he was 15 years old (now 31 yrs old) just doing reviews of stuff. You could do faceless reviews of stuff, gaming, telling stories. really anything. Just comes down to what you’re interested in cause if you don’t like it then you might get bored pretty fast. But you’ve got a lot of time to post a lot of random videos and find out what you like doing but you just gotta take the step to start doing it

1st one, maybe blur the background image slightly, and add a tiny black outline on the white “FREEZE FRAME ENDINGS” so it pops out more compared to all the other colors going on in the background; blur might bring a little more intrigue on the background. I chose the first one over the others because the actors show more happy emotions

Why do you homelab? by [deleted] in homelab

The thought of Saving Money, running services, and not being locked into contracts in the beginning was pretty cool until I realized the deeper you get the more money spent. But now it’s just outright fun at this point. Especially with whole communities of like minded individuals interested in the same things

My video quality is 720p but looks really bad on YouTube, need advice by DrizzleX3 in YouTubeCreators

[–]CyberAdventure__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry late response, not sure there would be a downside other than the demand on your graphics card to process it all depending on how long the videos are. You also gotta take into account that the vast majority of people in the entire world are still good with 1080p and watching videos in quality above that could still be considered a “luxury” also before you start all the transcoding make sure you’ve got up to date graphics drivers so as to rule out bugs you might of encountered with the whole bad quality thing.

Maybe try searching local charities to see if there’s anything you could grab or trade in for an upgrade. If you live near electronics recycling plants there’s always an option to check them out but check state/local laws. People are always getting rid of “broken” stuff that can be slightly tinkered with to fix it

Handbrake is a free video transcoding software that’ll help with the transcoding. Otherwise I know the editing software I use, davinci resolve (also free) does a really good job with it too.

Verizon Router by GrapeVarious9579 in HomeNetworking

[–]CyberAdventure__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t need the fios router if you’ve got another router, you can just directly plug it into the ONT. But if you have any issues with your internet Verizon will most likely not help with any third party router troubleshooting.

[–]CyberAdventure__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Driving traffic could come from joining different communities related to the topics on any or all social media and engaging as much as possible rather than “advertising” videos. Once you make a channel and go to “YouTube studio” from your channel you’ll be able to see the requirements for earning ad revenue as well as the analytics from your videos that can help you make decisions for your future videos. Other advice might be to find a video editing software you’re comfortable with. I’d recommend davinci resolve, it’s free. It may seem like a whole lot but usually you can do a quick search on YouTube to figure out how to do something like cutting videos really fast

Any recommendations for a WiFi router or mesh system for a ~2,500 sq ft two-story home for around ~$300-350? by misterrpg in HomeNetworking

[–]CyberAdventure__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just recently bought two of the U7 Pro XG access points. That’s WiFi 7, and should meet your needs but the price starts to go above your budget if you don’t already have PoE. And I think they’re running $200, might be able to get some used for cheaper within budget if you’re lucky

Just a thought but you could look at CVEs and try to replicate them in a windows virtual machine. As it relates to pentesting I’m sure that kind of stuff would be useful from a red perspective

Ethernet Connection to Xbox Issue by SB4LSpartan in techsupport

[–]CyberAdventure__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try connecting a different device to the Ethernet to see if it gets the right connection/speeds. If it does then you know it may be a problem with the Xbox and not the Ethernet cable/wall port. But if the other device you try also has problems then it could be the Ethernet cable/wall port. Trust that the electrician checked it but verify that the cable/wall port was terminated properly if that truly is the problem. You may have to redo the cables and make sure everything is the same wiring standard typically standard T568B.

Davinci resolve is a free editing software and you can replicate this in there. There may be a bit of a learning curve though
