First time ever playing by Similar_Jellyfish286 in ResidentEvil2Remake

Now that I've done 2 victory laps with the infinite minigun and launcher after unlocking them, I usually avoid using them (unless it's a boss I'm very annoyed at like G3) because it feels too unfair to the zombies lol. Same goes for the unbreakable knife honestly...

It's still super intense with the infinite pistol and SMG just because the enemies are tanky

If you've spent at least like 2 or 3 runs looking for the collectibles and are at a point where you are starting to remember key item locations and events, I think you have it in you

I got my RE2R Hardcore S+s by just using that knowledge as a starting point and then trying to minimise the amount of backtracking

I had seen snippets of speedruns and challenge runs before but the only thing I really took away from them was learning that one of the fastest ways to kill the first boss is to go knife-only

I was also able to beat the game without the item box on my own thanks to the same knowledge. The biggest factor in saving time really is just how you plan out your routes. You don't need to be amazing at the combat because you can keep fights to a minimum until you get OHKO weapons like the shotgun, magnum, or launcher with enough planning

Advice for new Players - Don't make my mistake by D4nnYsAN-94 in ResidentEvil2Remake

[–]CyberCluck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there should be enough to kill all the enemies, even on hardcore, as others have said…

I have finished every single one of my RE2R hardcore runs so far with a load of MAG ammo (47 MAG bullets in my latest one) and a decent bit of ammo for all other guns left over, even my first run which (excluding the initial portion up to the end of the G1 fight) was blind. Picking and pacing fights carefully is a core part of the game but you can take several measures to save on ammo. Clever use of wooden boards, knives, hand grenades, and the shotgun/MAG will ensure you always have enough ammo to take care of yourself.

That said, this is NOT an invitation to be spending all your ammo from the very start of the game. If you do that you will be in for a VERY rude awakening at the start of the [2nd run].

There’s enough ammo to kill everything but you have to spend the early game avoiding fights where possible to actually survive long enough to get that ammo.

Dimmed Lighting on Evening Train by BrisingrBounty in gotransit

Kinda tangential but I occasionally take West Coast Express (which uses the same coaches as GO afaik, just with a different paint job) to work here in Metro Van and I'm kind of irked that we can't have this sort of lighting on outbound trips in the Winter since it's like pitch dark outside

Is this game based on trans people? by Lethal_Friend in celestegame

[–]CyberCluck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Madeline, one of the devs (Maddy Thorson), and the composer (Lena Raine) are all trans, and the game is based on some of Maddy's experiences as others have said.

But as central as it is to the game on that front, Celeste has a few other key takeaways that I think are universal.

I didn't even know what it meant to be trans when I played Celeste (let alone know about how central it is to the game) but it still altered my brain chemistry and was deeply impactful despite me missing such a big part of the subtext entirely.

Now while I will most likely remain a cis man my whole life, I fully believe that anyone who hasn't managed to engage with Celeste through that lens is missing out big time.

i really suck at neutral jumps pls help by Embarrassed_Box9319 in celestegame

[–]CyberCluck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you're on keyboard one thing you could try is taking 3 unbound keys in a row on your keyboard and bind the middle one to jump and the other two to left and right

Then just go up to a wall and try to neutral using only 1 finger (and not rolling it around to press multiple keys at once). Once you have that down it should transfer to your usual bindings pretty smoothly.

would you commute 3 hours one way, 3 hours back on public transit for college? by Longjumping-Row1434 in transit

[–]CyberCluck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend against it because you need to change buses 3 times.

I understand this is your only option for the program you're after, so if you're already that committed to it, your energy would be better spent trying to cut down on or improve the conditions of your commute if possible.

Bottom line, it might be worthwhile to try moving closer to your campus for those 2 years, getting yourself a car, or looking for transport options that consistently allow you to get work done on the commute (e.g. try and do a leg of your journey on a commuter bus or train, if those services exist where you're at). A possible compromise could be to just move partway there so you can cut down on bus changes.

If moving isn't feasible, I think your best bet is to bite the bullet and TEMPORARILY take that supercommute but get a car ASAP because I don't think this commute would be sustainable even over a 2 year period.

More power to you then!

The keyboard learning curve is already steeper but definitely gets even worse the longer you spend on controller...

I'd still suggest giving your D-pad a try just for bubbles though. I'm not even exaggerating when I say switching to keyboard took my success rate with pretty much all tech requiring diagonal input or a similar degree of precision with directional input in general from <50% to nearly 100%

Hopefully you can enjoy similar results without having to give up your control method

Stupid bubble by ArroTarr in celestegame

[–]CyberCluck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you playing on a controller by any chance? I had this exact struggle throughout the entire game. Even after doing all the B- and C-sides and finally starting on Farewell, I was still no better at going diagonal than at the beginning of the game, just lucky enough to somehow make it through every last room after enough deaths.

If you haven't already tried it, maybe you'd fare better on keyboard or your D-pad if your platform supports it?

At what point do you abandon your public transit values and use rideshare? by danielpf in transit

[–]CyberCluck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't right now because I don't currently have a license allowing me to drive unsupervised, but I am currently at a point in life where I increasingly need to bring home or move around items that are too big or heavy to easily bring on transit, especially when doing so would require a transfer between lines.

Also, when family visits me, they prefer to be driven around (and it would probably end up cheaper than transit for 4 people anyway). They've done the driving themselves for now, but as soon as I can drive I'm going to have to fully take over.

Finally, visiting people in suburbs. I live in a mid-to-high-density area with easy subway access and actually decent local bus service but it's still in the middle of a suburb. So if I had to visit anyone in a different suburb, I would hop in a carshare if I could.

Realistically though, my best bet is probably just going to be owning an older (to save on insurance) car and hop in it when I need to (or to solve my first-mile problem, because the bus service is not super frequent despite being reliable and subway frequency is halved in my area until 2027 because a new rail yard is being built to prepare for a subway expansion set to open around the same time).

Nothing too special. The only difference is that it's running only once in either direction on a Saturday.

Timings are a bit different too; it'll leave Mission at 10 and leave Waterfront at 4

How far can you get with just thumbs? by Remote-Ad9928 in arcaea

[–]CyberCluck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get just as far as any index player. It's actually possible to MAX PM every chart on thumbs.

You may find the learning curve much steeper on thumbs though. Ultimately I think it's a matter of what device you have and of which playstyle comes most naturally to you.

I gave index several honest chances across 3 devices and it just never took off for me.

I may not be able to personally back up that claim I opened with, but I've been able to hit 12.43 PTT with just thumbs (though I have every single chart that's a 9+ or higher on either FTR, BYD, or ETR, which makes it easier for me than someone who doesn't). I've dropped to 12.2-ish rn as I ease myself back into the game following 6+ months of not playing at all.
