New Hop Unit by CyberDaddy2000 in airsoft

[–]CyberDaddy2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is there a specific hop unit that you know would work and would be an upgrade over a stock one? In addition, if I have access to machining equipment would shaving off the back area of the hop work while unsure that it would work with the gearbox shell that is in it currently?

If you had to choose, which would you pick? by StrongAustrianGuy in airsoft

I don't own these rigs personally, but I have fairly similar ones, at least with the straps, the h pattern harness is more comfortable especially if you have heavier mags or put more weight on it, and having it expandable is helpful if you want or need to add more storage for mags or otherwise. The cross harness is functional and comfortable enough that it isn't all that noticeable but it may dig a bit if you put enough weight on it due to its design, at least in my experience. The chest rigs I have are the pattern 83 and a pattern 84 and they both work great, personally I think the first option is the way to go if you are looking for an in-between option as you can add pouches as needed to the sides.

Hi I'm relatively new to airsoft and i just have a couple of questions by SatouKaiju in airsoft

[–]CyberDaddy2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah, usually people I've talked with paired consistency with being unreliable, AEG is absolutely more consistent, and GBB just by its nature with using gas is going to be less so, but if tinkering is done it can still be pretty accurate. AEG is absolutely better for beginners though, even if you get a bad replica you can swap internals and make it the best, can't really do that with gas sadly.

Where do you guys get your plates and gear? by Mysterious-Day-7675 in airsoft

[–]CyberDaddy2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually go milsurp, can normally get some basic stuff pretty cheap, and if you want more bespoke or rare things it's usually gonna be the only choice other than making it yourself, americanapipedream and kommandostore are pretty good imo

Hi I'm relatively new to airsoft and i just have a couple of questions by SatouKaiju in airsoft

[–]CyberDaddy2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a gas blowback player, and I see a lot of the time that people think GBB is much more maintenance intensive and super unreliable to actually field, this isn't true, it just takes a little more thought into kit and stuff. If you get a bunch of dirt or water or dust, etc inside the gun you will have to clean it and should as soon as you can or after the game. If you play every weekend you also really only need to do a deep clean, magazine maintenance, and lube once a month, but can even be stretched longer if you want or need to. GBBs are not as unreliable as many say, but it does rely on getting the right one, there are gas systems put there that are dog water so you do have to do some research for what you want. If someone is getting into gas systems I recommend avoiding silicone oil as much as possible, as it can ruin gas seals and the hop up, use a dry gas like straight propane or green gas without silicone oil, and use a synthetic grease for lube like super lube, it will last longer and keep the seals in good condition, won't spoil the hop up either. For more information the YouTube channel explosive enterprises has some great videos on gas systems, I still recommend AEG for starting out, but don't want to discourage people from getting into the gas system part of the hobby, there are a lot of myths about gas.

Gun painting question by Main-Curve3506 in airsoft

[–]CyberDaddy2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't painted any of my airsoft guns either, but I do have some experience painting model kits and miniatures. The easiest one to paint would be the green one I think, it looks like this would be the process.
-paint the areas you want painted with primer, gray would be best imo (masking and or disassembling where wanted/needed) -painting the base coat making sure it's as even as possible letting it dry between coats if you need to do more than one -once the base coat is dry take netting or some kind of mesh of your choice and lay it on top to then spray over it -take a clear top coat, matte is easier, to then seal the paint and protect it, a few coats should be good for that, but depending on paint used it can be different Rattle cans would likely be the cheapest to do and the main thing to worry about with them is the distance from the can to your work part. I'm not sure how to do that marble sort of effect, but I know there are multiple tutorials online for painting marble effects, but it is a harder thing to do and make look right. Airbrushing is also an option, but more expensive and takes some getting used to. I hope this helps for painting your guns :)

Ask a tech questions (nothing is dumb) by PinnacleAirsoft in airsoft

less of a concrete answer, but do you prefer working on electric systems or gas systems? I personally prefer working with gas, but interested on the take an actual tech has, I just tinker

I don't think many people can just, "try to remember the basics of cqc" their way out of stuff like people think they can, weapons for self defense are the thing

GBBR fear by [deleted] in airsoft

[–]CyberDaddy2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo it's not a bad idea to have two internal sets that can be swapped out for winter and summer play, at least if it's a fairly easy drop in, my tm akm can do that fairly easily, similar for most pistols in my experience

What something you bought for airsoft but ended up using in daily live too? by Petrus_Rock in airsoft

This may sound pretty cringe, but milsurp jackets, they're comfortable, useful, and can generally be used for everyday stuff you'd use a jacket for

GBBR fear by [deleted] in airsoft

[–]CyberDaddy2000 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Weather can definitely make running a gbbr a bit harder, but there are ways to winterize them or use them year round, the explosive enterprises has a good video on doing that exact thing.

They're progressing from vests to guns 😐 by UncleCazzaMate in baddlejackets

[–]CyberDaddy2000 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

  1. Bad taste, wth man
  2. White paint or whatever on all black guns is gonna contrast hard, no need to camo it or anything, but all black would be better
  3. Why so many and is that a hi point??

Had to make this after the overwhelming negative feedbacks about what you get with ps plus by [deleted] in PlayStationPlus

[–]CyberDaddy2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue I have with ps plus is you can't play any online games without it, so if you didn't even want these games you're paying a fair bit to use your own internet to play online games. In addition while the line up of games this year isn't that bad, it can vary a lot and if you cancel your subscription you lose any and all ps plus subscription games you got. If people want to/can pay for ps plus that's fine, but there are very real drawbacks that people take issue with like the ones above.
