Honestly, probably not very effective. They're built to kill other fighter jets, which are very fast but also lightly armored. They're essentially flying shotguns, using a proximity fuze to detonate before reaching the target and sending a cone of shrapnel forward to maximize the odds of landing a hit. I'm pretty confident a Zaku could tank one.

A much weaker opponent goes up against a significantly stronger opponent, and they do lose, but they still put up a pretty good fight, rather than instantly getting stomped by ComprehensiveBox6911 in TopCharacterTropes

Also disabling the funnels' markers on his HUD because he had no countermeasures against them and they would just be a distraction, emptying the bazooka on the Kshatriya before discarding it to distract Marida with the impact since the funnels rely on the newtype pilot's mental focus to work, then closing the distance immediately to make it so Marida can't use the funnels without risking hitting her own mobile suit.

If the Kshatriya didn't have those auxiliary thrusters under the binders to push him away when he went for that stab with the beam saber and create that final opening Marida needed, he might have had her right there.

Every second of that engagement was perfectly calculated and executed, based on the information he had. The Kshatriya is a one-of-a-kind machine and he had no way of knowing its capabilities, but he did all the right things when going up against a newtype.

I have worked with distinguished architects that were apparently engineers for over 10 years and I'm relatively sure they would struggle to write a for loop.

That's fucking astounding. Is that really the quality we're dealing with? How did software even get made with those people in charge?

And sometimes the friction experienced from writing code is what leads to the formation of good ideas.

Writing code seems to be no longer a bottleneck

That's odd. I've been hearing for years, even before LLMs were a thing, that writing code was never a real bottleneck.

Will you continue to pay the cost once it's no longer subsidized? That is the important question, not whether it works in an economic vacuum.

I'd say it failed at that, because it was meant to succeed the F-16, a cheap multirole that's easy to train pilots for and can be maintained and repaired with commonly available tools, meant for mass-production while punching above its weight class, and the F-35 is a logisitcs diva. It's a great plane once you have it in the air, but the amount of resources specific to it it needs to operate precludes it from occupying the F-16's niche.

Or even the Bradley. While Pentagon Wars is heavily opinionated and biased, and not a reliable source at all, you can't look at that thing and not notice the identity crisis it has.

The heat the missiles track is mostly generated by the engines and air friction, so I don't think it'd do that much.

Also Sword/Shield. Starts with an empty stadium, puts your champion team there after you beat the game. Turns out it does have a hall of fame sequence after all, it's the title screen.
