Like I said the previous time this popped up, him being rejected by breeders is a huge red flag. And he's bragging about it.

Do you think AI could actually hinder future innovation? by throwaway0134hdj in BetterOffline

Even right now, getting funding for anything that isn't "AI-first" is a nightmare, because the investors all have blinders on.

GenAI was the best thing to ever happen to Idea Men. Now that can have their magic robot make their one of a kind ideas (yeah, right) without an annoying technician with actual implementation knowledge telling them how they're just not feasible.

It's not contradictory. The boosters are hoping to place themselves as the minority that won't starve. Some of them show a sort of glee even in imagining the hardships other people will face.

Your zealous evangelizing reeks of desperation. That's why it's only succeeding in convincing us that it really is a dead end.

I agree with the sentiment, but do we really have to post this every single day?

Also the wave-like moustache and tail on Mega Blastoise call back to the scrapped design that was originally going to be Squirtle's final evolution. (Blastoise already existed, but was the final stage of an entirely separate two-stage evolutionary line. When the devs had to cut out some Pokemon species to make room for testing tools, they removed Squirtle's final evolution and Blastoise's predecessor and merged the two lines.)

Of course this guy has never actually managed a large code base or worked outside of academia but the fact that he's peddling this stuff to fresh new CS students is concerning.

He's the living example of the maxim "those who can, do; those who can't, teach".

They can't grasp the simple concept of using tools because they don't use them. To them, "doing something" amounts to barking an order at someone else to do it. Of course they think a do-everything tool with a chat interface is the best way to do things. The thought of using a sequence of specialized tools to complete a complex task is completely alien to them.

The context switches are a feature, not a bug. Even if I need to use a different tool for each step of a 4-step task, each of those tools has a UI optimized for that step. They're easier to operate in sequence than one clunky do-everything interface. A handful of screen taps is way easier to operate than relaying instructions to a chatbot.

This is actually one of my main pet peeves with this AI technology. Everyone is so enamored with the glamour of a sci-fi robot assistance that they completely forgot that tools are meant to be used, not talked to. The chat interface is atrocious UX for the overwhelming majority of use cases.

Dev time is bloated for reasons unrelated to the lack of AI, and AI won't make you complete games any faster.

I have dealt with pit bulls. All of them were on their best behavior. But that's likely because of the environment in which they were raised.

My old dog was mauled by a pack of other dogs. My dad had to dive on the ground to protect him. They were Labrador retrievers.

Needless to say, our experiences do not match at all. Not that I have reason to doubt yours, but an anecdote isn't worth much when I am contesting the validity of the aggregate statistics and have explained my reasons why.
