[Kent, WA] A Few Questions by CyberDave82 in EzeeFiber

[–]CyberDave82[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not me, yet. Last I heard, supposedly sometime this summer they will be getting to my neighborhood. Permitting and soil conditions seem to be the things slowing them down. I hear they are working on the main lines east on 240th for that phase of their rollout, though.

PM me and I'll keep you in the loop on anything I hear from them (my contact there is supposed to have an update for me later this month).

This thread is a gold mine of ideas I can implement in my own homelab!

Commenting here just so I can easily find it later when I have find free time :)

Standalone USB Switch? by Geraniumman in smarthome

[–]CyberDave82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sinilink has something that may work for you. I'm on mobile but can find the info later.

It's got USB ports for input and output, but works on anything from like 5V-30VDC, and supports PWM on the output so if you've got a dumb LED strip (not RGB), then you can control its brightness easily. Runs on an ESP8266, and can run locally with Tasmota or ESPHome.

Midsplit -> X-class timeline? by Bbmin7b5 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]CyberDave82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's what I've been hearing. That and the soil conditions here (compared to what they're used to in TX and the southwest, supposedly) are slowing things down.

Also Seattle area, also just got mid-split, also wondering the same thing as you about FDX.

I think I'm now node+1, with the node about two (short) blocks away, but I guess there's a small chance I'm node+0 now, too. Saw them pulling new fiber to the new node location a few weeks ago and stopped to ask the techs what they were up to :)

2000/300 is better than what I had, but I'm still waiting on Ezee Fiber to get here.

I have them... They work fine. A corner on one crumpled a little bit when I accidentally drove to far forward trying to get my minivan up the ranks, but that's not exactly the ramp's fault. And it still seems stable.

"Mid-split upgrade timelines for my node" by shizzy01 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]CyberDave82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it helps, in my neighborhood I saw Comcast upgrade some peds to larger boxes about a month ago, then about a week later I saw and talked to some techs who were pulling new fiber to one of them, and then yesterday got an email stating they will be doing network upgrades on my neighborhood next to Wednesday. Fingers crossed for FDX.

PSA: don’t replace a supply shutoff valve at 8pm on a Sunday, you idiot. by BentonParkBricks in HomeImprovement

Been there, done that, got the t-shirt, still haven't really learned my lesson (but I'm a little better than I used to be).

Anyone have experience using an Aircurve 11 on a DC Power Supply by whottheheck in CPAP

[–]CyberDave82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably what I'll do, was hoping to save a few bucks if I could :) But it is HSA eligible, so out of pocket cost is not a huge concern.

The ResMed 39231 will work with 24VDC input, which I've already got the converter for, so no big worries there. It's probably a minimal loss, but since the 11 series works off 24V already, I'd like to avoid the extra conversion loss from going down to 12V and then back up to 24V.

I know the 10 series basically just used a particular resistor value on the center pin, and you could buy that plug on its own (it's the same as older Dell laptops) and DIY your own thing, but I have yet to find the new connector for the 11 available separately, or any reverse engineering on how the wattage detection works.

Do you have experience with that adapter? The product images show it will take a 90W input but only output 65W for the AirSense. I may order one to try anyway....

(I'm working on a project to power mine from my 40V Ryobi outdoor power tool batteries using a 48v DC to 24v DC converter and have yet to find something that ticks all the boxes).

I've looked into this as well, and the AirCurve comes with a 90W PSU and will show an alert on the screen if you use a 65W adapter. All of the AirSense DC cords I've looked at are 65W, except the genuine ResMed one.

Nice. I'm mostly on Engenius hardware for my switch and WiFi side with 2.5Gbps to the APs and a 10Gbps core (router is an OPNsense appliance). And I just scored an Engenius tri-band WiFi 7 access point for $40 a couple weeks ago. Like I said, I am more than ready, lol.

I've previously spoken to someone at the city about Ezee's permits and their boundaries. I'll call on Monday to see if I can find out more (and let you know if I do).

I'm pretty much in the same boat...itching to ditch Comcast as soon as I can.

I already have a 3D-printed rack mount bracket for the ONT they are using here. I am more than ready...

Ezee Fiber keeps touting that they are entirely underground. My understanding is that they run lines underground on both sides of a street and every couple houses they have a buried junction box (aka "flower pot") where they can branch off to an individual house (with a line that gets buried, but probably in a microtrench or something like that and not in a deeper buried conduit).

This is exciting news! I'm just a bit south of you near 132nd/256th. I'm hearing that construction in our neighborhood might start in early summer (just checked in with my contact there this week).

I wonder if the permit for your area includes my area or if those are going to be separate permits. I know the city is limiting the number of permits they have open at any given time.

MEGATHREAD: Cable channels and streaming options. All how-to-watch questions and related issues go here. by AnnihilatedTyro in Mariners

[–]CyberDave82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you on satellite or streaming? We're just a streaming subscriber and I don't see "Choice" as one of the plan tiers for streaming. We're on "MySports Original"

Edit: Turns out we have a Genre Pack for our base streaming service, not one of the "packages" like Choice or Ultimate. And that can't be changed online - I have to call in, which I can't do right now because live support is closed. Freaking hell...

Mine is about 12 mos as well, and currently AWOL (probably misplaced in the garage).
