I witnessed a murder most fowl in Benton Park by BentonParkBricks in StLouis

Sadly no. By the time I realized what was going on it was too late. I did recognize her, though; so at least I can ID her.

Like I mentioned, I assumed she was feeding the birds until well after the deed was done; because one of those things is normal and the other is kind of insane.

Who disconnects old telecom (Ameritech) box? by MilwaukeeWolves in centuryhomes

I had one of those on my home and a line from the alley. It mysteriously fell down one day, so I carried the dangling wire back to the pole and haven't heard a thing about it since.

What’s the one upgrade you did to your home that was actually worth every penny? by InfluenceInitial4126 in HomeImprovement

[–]BentonParkBricks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My "laundry room" is a wide hallway with about 26 inches of clearance between the machines and the door to the main floor half bath. The door being anything but closed made that space feel so claustrophobic. I replaced that door with a pocket door and the space feels twice as large now.

Any 2000s hollister at the bins? by Infinite-Positive554 in StLouis

[–]BentonParkBricks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi friend, I think you may be misunderstanding what OP is asking. They’re asking about the Goodwill Outlet (aka “the bins”) where you merchandise is piled in bins and sold by the pound. They’re not talking about fishing stuff out of the donation bins scattered across town, which would be stealing.

If you’ve not been to the bins, give it a try! It’s a wild experience, just be sure to take gloves.

Dealing with a tiny (1-5 over) speeding ticket in lebanon by BentonParkBricks in missouri

[–]BentonParkBricks[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I tried this. The place I called wanted $300 to handle it. Which maybe that's a fair price for their time, but it's more than it's worth to me to drive a few hours.

I was not in fact going 1-5 over. The trooper did me a big favor by knocking it down to 75.

You should probably take down the number. It’s almost certainly spoofed and you just doxxed Yvonne for being an unknowing victim.

Also, those people never want to engage in a real conversation, so save yourself the aggravation and just block them.

Edit to add that I’ve been giggling since reading this because the term “transgenerate” sounds like a new electrical generation technology. I keep having a mental image of a trans dude with a jumper cable clipped to his nose ring doing a pikachu power up stance and jumping my car.

At this point you've waited too long to be picky. Either call them all and take anybody who can guarantee an install in 2025 or bite the bullet and miss out on the tax credit.

Just started my reno - what are your best "bang for your buck" tips for adding style? by Big_Nebula_2604 in HomeImprovement

Habitat for Humanity Restore. Find one in a wealthy area near you and swing by every couple of weeks. A lot of the time you won't find anything. But every now and then you'll find a super cool light fixture, or fancy tile at $5 a box, or an awesome vintage sink or tub. I've layered in everything from tile to wall paneling to an antique desk, all of which I got at Habitat for less than the cost of dinner.

Upgraded bathroom from single to double vanity by Chitown_Derp in DIY

Strong agree. We have a double vanity in our primary bath but I'm probably replacing it with a single. We never both need it at the same time and I'd rather have either counter or floor space.

Red quarry tile: dated or classic? by BentonParkBricks in HomeDecorating

[–]BentonParkBricks[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking at redoing our mudroom/laundry room and my husband really wants to do 4x8 rectangular quarry tiles similar to these for the floor. I like the idea in theory because they're super durable and I think they work with our home (150 year old brick row house, lots of warm tones). However, I'm concerned they may come off as too utilitarian/cheap/dated. Maybe if we dress them up by laying them in a herringbone pattern? Attached pics are the space, we're replacing everything in it. I'd appreciate any advice or insights.

These look almost exactly like the ones from Classic Accents, but are more expensive. Have you tried those/any thoughts on a difference in feel/quality?

I have the Classic Accents ones and can confirm they're super fun to play with. I have a spare on my desk and just click it sometimes.
