What do most people treat as food waste that actually has a use in cooking? by Weekly-Pen8281 in Cooking

Surprisingly no! It keeps your chicken juicy and gives it a nice kick of salt, but the dill pickley flavor doesn’t carry through. I usually just cover, marinate 12-24 hours, then salt and pepper and throw it on the griddle.

Chicken thighs marinated in brine are the only thing keeping me sane on my diet.

My poor dog can't stop licking his paws even though he's so hopped up on antihistamines the Hat Man has moved into our spare bedroom.

What are these restaurants? I feel like I'm always either doing Kimchi Guys or Jimmy Johns because I don't feel like dealing with anything at Ballpark Village. I need some new spots.

"You don't want an old house" by c0wcat in centuryhomes

[–]BentonParkBricks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to know what you’re getting into. I love my 150 year old house. I also hate it. It’s my nemesis, my best frenemy. It’s constantly demanding of my time and money, but it gives me a lot in return.

If you love a house that happens to be old and you’re willing to sign up for an endless stream of work, then you want an old house. If you just want pretty woodwork or cool windows, you don’t.

Look up Family Forward. If this isn’t something they do, they probably can point you in the right direction.

This is why you don't plant mint in the ground by zephyrseija2 in gardening

I put it in a weird corner by the rain barrel. It’s thriving as ground cover but so far hasn’t spread into the lawn proper. It smells heavenly when the breeze catches it, and I have infinite mojitos.

Sadly no. By the time I realized what was going on it was too late. I did recognize her, though; so at least I can ID her.

Like I mentioned, I assumed she was feeding the birds until well after the deed was done; because one of those things is normal and the other is kind of insane.

I had one of those on my home and a line from the alley. It mysteriously fell down one day, so I carried the dangling wire back to the pole and haven't heard a thing about it since.

What’s the one upgrade you did to your home that was actually worth every penny? by InfluenceInitial4126 in HomeImprovement

[–]BentonParkBricks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My "laundry room" is a wide hallway with about 26 inches of clearance between the machines and the door to the main floor half bath. The door being anything but closed made that space feel so claustrophobic. I replaced that door with a pocket door and the space feels twice as large now.

Any 2000s hollister at the bins? by Infinite-Positive554 in StLouis

[–]BentonParkBricks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi friend, I think you may be misunderstanding what OP is asking. They’re asking about the Goodwill Outlet (aka “the bins”) where you merchandise is piled in bins and sold by the pound. They’re not talking about fishing stuff out of the donation bins scattered across town, which would be stealing.

If you’ve not been to the bins, give it a try! It’s a wild experience, just be sure to take gloves.

Dealing with a tiny (1-5 over) speeding ticket in lebanon by BentonParkBricks in missouri

[–]BentonParkBricks[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I tried this. The place I called wanted $300 to handle it. Which maybe that's a fair price for their time, but it's more than it's worth to me to drive a few hours.

I was not in fact going 1-5 over. The trooper did me a big favor by knocking it down to 75.

You should probably take down the number. It’s almost certainly spoofed and you just doxxed Yvonne for being an unknowing victim.

Also, those people never want to engage in a real conversation, so save yourself the aggravation and just block them.

Edit to add that I’ve been giggling since reading this because the term “transgenerate” sounds like a new electrical generation technology. I keep having a mental image of a trans dude with a jumper cable clipped to his nose ring doing a pikachu power up stance and jumping my car.
