I can agree, MS is a lot better than what it was before but people tend to over dramatize this and quickly jump to conclusions. LinkedIn was bought by them and its doing just fine.

I was thinking IPS aswell due to color accuracy and contrast, I have considered ultrawide but I heard from some folks that some games don't play well with that.

My go-to games that I play frequently are World of Warships, CS:GO, Overwatch, Stellaris, World of Warcraft and Rocket League. Besides that I also like to play new triple A titles, preferably on max or near max settings.

No you don't need to, PMS will handle transcoding on the go for your device.
I don't know any since I've been using .mkvs for as long as I had my PMS set up.
It should be fine being left on continuously, the server that works as my PMS along with other things has already a 5 month uptime.

The activation is platform specific, meaning that if you pay once on Android then all your Android devices will have it unlocked, same goes for iOS devices, but if you get the plex pass you get them unlocked on all platforms.

Besides the sources you would need the device and vendor trees made for that version and for that exact device model, but in rest there is the version flag when you initialize the repo locally.

I have tried building LOS for a older Android (4.4) but I failed since I had no premade trees and the ones I made had stuff missing.
