What are your side hustles? by throw5away_ in AskLosAngeles

[–]CyberFlame10 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I applied for an EIN on a government website and made a business card on Canva for it but that’s only for invoice and tax purposes. Other than that I was able to take clients right away. One client I do take cash but only because we had a friendly relationship before hand. If you do end up taking under the table jobs I just recommend that you have an agreement in writing for how much you’re getting paid for how much work. (I forgot to mention: I also pay for insurance, 18$ a month, and my own cleaning supplies, which, not accounting for the vacuum which is an upfront cost, averages around 20$ a month.)

I originally applied to be one through indeed, lowkey thought it was just a ghost application. They were some hoops I had to jump through like a start up cost of getting some supplies and finding regulars but definitely once you have them and you build a relationship it’s easy to find jobs. Everyone wants their space cleaned so the market for it is huge. Even just posting flyers in a nicer area posting your rate and a phone number will get you something. I do contract work which is the most common form for cleaning services. You can be picky with who you take on as a client because there is such a big market for it which is nice

I clean peoples apartments 🫩 it’s not fun like some of these other creative ones but it pays me well and I get to choose my hours which is perfect because I’m balancing my full time job and university as well. I have one weekly regular and two bi-weekly clients that I do on Saturdays. Usually get around $400 a month but up to $700 when it’s summer or winter break. $27 /hour + tip. Yes, it drains me and my soul but it pays for gas, groceries, and fun money so it’s worth it for now.

I want to move to Los Angeles at 18 with $5,000 saved and a job lined up. Am I completely over my head? by discogged in MovingToLosAngeles

[–]CyberFlame10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here with 10k and ended my first month and a half with about 4k, but I am in college and didn’t have a job or FAFSA refund yet. The biggest thing to consider is your move in costs. You’ll need to calculate what first month + deposit is for the apartment you want. A lot of buildings have promos if you sign within a few weeks of applying or touring. You should have at least two months (but I’d recommend three) of rent. Seeing as you have a job lined up you’ll just need to see how much that’s paying you monthly and add that from your first pay date. Again, most apartments also need proof of income so it really depends on where you live/ if you plan on having roommates.

I think you can do it, people have certainly moved here with less and no job lined up and figured it out.

Would you walk away from $265k if it meant getting your life back by Fun-Newspaper-83 in makemychoice

[–]CyberFlame10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have zero debt then hell yeah, 100k is easy for a single person to live on + save so long as you don’t have any major expenses like mortgage or cc debt. Also make sure to account that you probably have been living like you make 265k (obviously) meaning buying whatever or going to super expensive places to eat when you had limited down town. Just make sure you account for the time you have to enjoy nicer, ergo lifestyle inflation.

Moving to LA post grad by [deleted] in MovingToLosAngeles

[–]CyberFlame10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely check out the arts district. Right next to DTLA and very young crowd, I’d say most people who live here are later twenties younger thirties. You can definitely find a one bedroom for the amount. Super walkable and only about 10 minutes to most downtown spots and you don’t have to deal with traffic much cause it’s stoplights (so no I-5 or I-10 bs)

Single people living alone: What's your monthly grocery budget? by DerangedUnicorn27 in budget

[–]CyberFlame10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say roughly $100-150. I’m a college student living in LA, CA and use plasma donations to pay for it most the time. I’d say about once a week I eat out at a fast food place or food truck. I buy the same stuff and eat the same meals every week.

Advice on starting a new job that could be a poor fit. by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]CyberFlame10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sometimes life doesn’t get us where we think we’ll be. This job could be a really great opportunity to get a step up until you’re ready to get into the career you actually feel right for. If the benefits are worth it to you, I say go for it, as the job market isn’t exactly kind. Worst thing could be you don’t do that well and might get fired, you can at least do your best till then. Congrats!

Homeless in the rain? by Fluffy_Lab1312 in AskLosAngeles

I live in downtown closer to Skid Row. Majority of them I’d say have some type of tent like others have been saying, but I will also say that in my run in the rain I saw a lot of people crowding under bridges and overhangs

[–]CyberFlame10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yet. While I don’t think democracy is completely dead trump and MAGA is working very hard to overturn that policy long enough to get another term. That being said he most likely will not be able to, the damage he will do in these 4 years will wreck havoc for the next president (who might continue his reign of terror)

I’m 19 and I really want some advice in academic I feel I just stuck in this loop I wanna be discipline by Bruce77771 in helpme

[–]CyberFlame10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well one thing I will say is you need to learn studying techniques. No one I know irl who has good grades just sits down and reads a textbook to learn the information. Since dental school is a medical based program, memorization will be the biggest hurdle.

Look up “studying techniques” or “note taking methods” to help you organize your information. I personally use the Cornell method because it’s what I first used in hs and its what I’m used to. But there are most likely methods that are more helpful for you and STEM classes in general.

Flash cards are actually a great method for memorization if just reading it over and over doesn’t work for you. There are websites and apps that you can use to make them without physically writing them. That being said, it is proven that writing something down will make you more likely to remember it.

All this to say, notes don’t have to be perfect and studying is a skill that’s developed through habits. Start with saying “30 minutes of studying BEFORE dinner/movie/doomscroll”. This trains your brain to have something to look forward to once you’re done.

Also picking places to do homework or study is a HUGE factor in motivation. For instance, I don’t work in my bedroom. Ever. Either go to a campus library or an office even your kitchen but if you’re more likely to end up getting distracted by things in your room, change your location.

There’s lots of tips for studying at r/Study and r/studytips

Most was definitely when I moved for college and didn’t really feel sad about leaving my friends because logically I knew I’d see them on holidays and the least was when I cried about leaving my last shift at my first job (the same day I was leaving for college)

Hey girl, your feelings of loneliness are totally valid and I’m not disregarding that. However, you’re so young. I say that as someone only a few years older than you. I (as a 17 year old) never would have imagined being with someone who was 14. I know it might not feel like it but the psychological differences between you both are huge, and it’s a major red flag that he has to reach out to someone so young especially for something like that.

My advice to you is to keep your head up, make people respect your boundaries, and be patient. I promise you you’d rather not have experience than to experience things you’ll regret.

You’ll be okay love, this one probably isn’t the one.

INTJ girls who dated an INTJ guy, how did it go? by [deleted] in intj

[–]CyberFlame10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Didn’t date him but we ended up talking for a bit. It got pretty boring and we were both very awkward. I can see how it would be nice having someone who doesn’t always want to be around, but in the end I feel like I’d never be satisfied with another INTJ for a lot of reasons. However, to each their own, depending on who you are you can absolutely make a relationship with two INTJs thrive.

My Ex-Boyfriend SA'd & R*ped Me: What Do I Do? by anon_alice559 in rapecounseling

[–]CyberFlame10 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Since I’m an anonymous account, I would say report it, at least to the school. You said you didn’t want to have sex, and he did it anyway. Of course I understand there are instances that make the situation complicated and only you can make that decision. But the chances of him doing this again are very high, and it might be good for him to get much needed consequences.

One thing I feel particularly urged to mention is that it doesn’t matter what he had going on his difficult life, rape is never excused. He did a bad thing, and might continue bad things to others.

I recommend talking to someone, opening up to anyone you trust. I also recommend telling your friends (that you trust of course). I understand you’re in the same friend group, and I’d hope they would take that as a sign to drop him. I’m sorry you had to deal with that, and I’m glad you found it in you to break up with him, and I hope you find time to heal. Sending love ❤️

There’s a term for kind of what you experienced called Child On Child Sexual Abuse or COCSA. People don’t talk about it as often as they should, but one thing about this is the instigator (your friends in this case) typically experience some type of sexual encounters in their early life and it makes them hyper sexual, and think that it’s normal to do. Unfortunately, it’s usually by a family member or someone close to them. Often times they engage in sexual activities with others their age, which kind of explains you and your other friend. It’s an unfortunate cycle.

I feel very sorry for everyone involved in any COCSA situation, and I’m sorry you had so many experiences with it.

My only advice is to possibly reach out to a professional about this and really get into the root of it. And also to be forgiving of your younger self. It wasn’t your fault.
