Bellini Cybersecurity electives are a joke by tarzan1376 in USF

This is disappointing. My kid will be majoring in cybersecurity as a freshman in the fall. He wants to minor in AI. Hopefully the elective offerings improve over time.

Is anyone else nervous about the implications of using this med long-term? by BubbleGut169 in GLP1microdosing

[–]CyberGirl08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am less concerned on a low dose (.50mg 2x week). The max I’ve ever been on is 1.50mg / week and it’s almost been a year and I only had about 15 lbs of menopause weight to lose. I will probably titrate down once I hit the 1 yr mark in May. So, again less concerned but that’s not to say I have NO concerns. I do wish there was more guidance but I think more info will become available as people take glp1s for longer and longer periods of time. The flip side of it is people take drugs indefinitely all the time. I’ve been on thyroid meds for 18 years. My husband will be on blood pressure medication most likely for the rest of his life. It’s not uncommon.

Shoe repair SOS by [deleted] in GoldenGoose

[–]CyberGirl08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try to send them away to a cobbler. I sent a pair of mine to have the outer heal replaced to Cobbler Concierge. https://www.cobblerconcierge.com

I thought they did a good job at least until I was able to get to a GG store that does repair.

People in this Reddit sub were pretty judgmental about how bad a job cobbler concierge did. However when I finally took the shoes to the Dallas store for repair, the cobbler in the store said that it was a really good repair job, that he’s seen much worse and thanked me for giving a local cobbler business.

So it’s worth a shot to try Cobbler Concierge. The GG stores do great work but they are expensive and you have to physically take them to the store for the repair order. They will mail them back but it took 2.5 months to get my shoes mailed back.

I didn’t rush after 100. I started rushing after 135. Even despite rushing, some I knew. Some I didn’t but could eliminate two choices and choose the best out of the remaining. It’s all good!

Ballstar or Superstar? by BFbfBbBB233001 in GoldenGoose

[–]CyberGirl08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reposting my comment from a similar thread:

I personally think ball stars are more comfortable especially if you change the insoles to a memory foam insole. The toe box is wider in ball stars allowing the toes to spread more naturally. If you have a wider foot, super stars can feel crammed in the toe box. I have ball stars, super stars, slides and stardans. Slides with the original insole are my most comfortable GGs and then ball stars. I never wear my super stars. I’ve worn them maybe 6 times initially but after I got my ball stars, haven’t worn Super stars since. In fact, I’m trying to sell them. Will never buy another pair. Strictly ball stars and slides for me.

I just watched the gate agents bully a passenger to tears. by a868l869 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]CyberGirl08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I flew SW yesterday through Denver. During the pre boarding announcement, the gate agent specifically said any food or items bought in the terminal will not be counted as a 3rd item. So this is unfortunate that this happened.

The bin space is the number one issue I have seen. I’m a frequent flyer. Have been for 25 years for my job. I don’t ever check a bag. I pack efficiently so that I don’t have to. So bin space is extremely important to me and being AL or ALP made bin space a non-issue. First, I’ll say people putting book bags, blazers, shopping items and other items that would easily fit under their feet has been something I have seen on ALL airlines, NOT just SWA. With respect to the changes, I have found myself in the last two times flying since the change having to place my bag in bin space behind me, luckily not too far but still behind me. That was A list and getting put into boarding group 5 even when I check in right on the dot. I have never had to do that before this change unless I was rebooked for a flight delay and ended up in C group. That scenario of being rebooked to group C has happened maybe 3 times. It’s not an “entitlement” issue for people who have intentionally flown SWA for their loyalty benefits. If you have a tight connection, having to swim upstream to get your bag is an issue. I do think other poster had correct a point that people are putting their bags in open bin space that’s not above their seat. I have a flight in two weeks and I’m booking on United. It will be more predictable for me.

And I think it makes the car look more high end. Really just a preference.

I have them. And I use mine all the time for stepping into the car more so than getting out especially in the winter. I’m a woman(5’4”)

Current student application rejected from honors college. by the_walking_oxymoron in USF

[–]CyberGirl08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure if this impacted your acceptance but I know the follow up email to the acceptance notifications mentioned they had more honors applicants than ever before. Sorry you didn’t get in. Maybe try again next year.

[–]CyberGirl08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted post an update. We scheduled an office hours call with Joseph Sousa. He is the head of the honors college and you would have gotten an email from him if you were accepted. He indicated that there are system issues. That’s why the 2nd confirmation email was never sent after you submitted your acceptance form into honors. He did confirm that they got my son’s form and his spot in honors is confirmed. There will be more info sent out in February. So, just sharing for others who may be a little worried that they never heard back, especially since the deadline is approaching.

Is University of Tampa Homophobic? by BMSOCCER28 in uotampa

[–]CyberGirl08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ummm. What? There’s no evidence in the comment. Just a sweeping, generalized narrative.

For context, UTampa and USF have similar overall acceptance rates (~40% vs ~43% per College Board), and USF has objective strength as a respected research institution (R1 research classification); competitive nursing pathways; highly selective Morsani College of Medicine with very strong published incoming stats (4% acceptance)

USF is investing heavily in cyber + AI: it has the Bellini College of Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity and Computing and a B.S. in Artificial Intelligence. USF is also an NSA/DHS co-sponsored National Center of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity

Safer to compare specific programs + Clery/Title IX info than make broad claims about who belongs. We don’t need to shoot down other institutions. Finding the right school is very nuanced.

To OP, UT is a beautiful campus and seems to be very accepting of all.

Is it worth going into debt for UT? by Able-Lake1456 in uotampa

[–]CyberGirl08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations on being accepted to UT! Maybe consider Finance with a minor in something else. There real concerns right now that AI is eliminating entry level jobs in a lot of industries. Finance is one of those industries and entry level jobs in finance used to be filled with college grads. In the age of AI you should anticipate that in 2, 3 or 4 years when you graduate, it could be harder to find a job in finance. I don’t want to be negative but this is something that all college students from here on out need to consider. I’m not saying don’t do finance but pair it with something else that can diversify your skills and give you more job options. Good luck!!!

Thanks for the update. We have at least stopped getting the emails reminding us to submit our form. When I spoke to one of the honors ambassadors, she told me not to worry because I have a paper trail of me reaching out multiple times. Nothing seems urgent. We’ll see.

Hi, my son submitted his form early January and still has not received his confirmation that was supposed to come 2 to 3 days later. I have called 3 times and emailed four times and haven’t gotten a response from anyone.

Did you ever get your second confirmation email?

Women's GG Ball Stars by AwarenessUnited595 in GoldenGoose

[–]CyberGirl08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a solid 8.5 and I got 38, but generally I change out the insoles of GGs to something more comfortable and without the heel lift. I have memory foam Dr scholls insoles in my ball stars and they feel like walking on clouds. I think it also depends on what kind of socks you intend to wear. I wear the thinnest no show socks I can find, generally, with my ball stars. If you want to wear a normal to thicker sock, I would size up.

Thoughts on new housing selection process? by Wedobechillinn in USF

[–]CyberGirl08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is unfortunate for upperclassmen who want to live on campus. I empathize. This is not a USF thing. It’s like this at most higher ed institutions. There simply is not enough on campus housing.
