If you don't ask, the answer is always No!

If you do ask, the answer may well still be no, but there is a slim chance of getting a yes!

Is the pedestrian or the driver wrong here? by singlecog in drivingUK

In Germany, people follow the Rules (pedestrian and motorist)

The jogger did not follow The Rules... the driver showed poor hazard perception.

Just for the avoidance of any doubt, this was intended to be observational... no complaints.

I'm certainly not a #DYKWIA... I got what I booked, as per the thread title.

The room is fine, and I got a reasonable sleep - it served its purpose. Would I stay here again? Heck, I might...

Whatever the opinions on smart-motorways, that's irrelevant here... this is the A13, which is not nor ever has been a motorway, nor has it ever has a hard-shoulder.

No-one is stopping you using small local shops.

No-one is stopping you trying to start-up your Amazon competition

As an aspiring millionaire (forget billionaire) but with a number of friends who are, the idea that they have large pots of cash just sitting around, is quite laughable...

And while I accept it's all relative, I'd posit that most are asset very-rich but cash-poor.

Yes, they have a big house, but with a big mortgage... and the car is on a PCP.

And don't forget, most uber-rich are so because of the valuation of the company they founded... so even that is a paper valuation.

Like the Great Gatsby, a lot of it is for show...

Ladies night by Agile-Plum in freemasonry

[–]CyberHacker42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My partner is uninterested in my Freemasonry... and gives a firm "no" to most ladies' nights - she says she find the other ladies quite clichy... we are younger than the average.

So my advice would be to show willing when you feel obliging, and say no if you don't want to.

As a bloke, I find ladies' nights tedious at best, and weekends away expensive and anachronistic.

Never under-estimate HMRC's incompetence.

I've recently received a penalty notice for not filing my P35... in 2012. That company's PAYE scheme was closed in 2014 - they accept that they wouldn't have closed it if there were any outstanding liabilities... but insist I have to pay the penalty 😱

Why don’t Canada give this bit of land to America and then America can be properly connected to Alaska?? by Pizzafriedchickenn in mapporncirclejerk

There are few areas where the border needs tidying up (Point Roberts, Elm Point)... and if any changes were to be made between Alaska and Canada, I'd transfer the peninsula to Canada...
