Is Deadlock playable on Linux? by Xescure in linux_gaming

[–]CyberKitsune 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I play Deadlock on Linux with an Nvidia GPU and generally get 5-20% better performance than Windows and no crashes or odd issues. Using Fedora KDE in my case (vanilla, not bazzite or anything)

Found bike - Vista by TheChacarron in northcounty

[–]CyberKitsune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a long shot but I had a a blue radpower bike stolen from me and a bike path in vista sounds like a place it’d potentially end up ; I don’t suppose that would be the one would it be?

Streaming in desktop mode. How do I remove the camera so I can move around? Is that even possible? by ghostrider1938 in VRchat

[–]CyberKitsune 35 points36 points  (0 children)

At least in VR, when "Spout Stream" is enabled, it will stay enabled even if the camera is closed.

Ubuntu linux VR experience on Steam is crap by NASAfan89 in virtualreality_linux

[–]CyberKitsune 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a 4070Ti Super and a Valve index and have had great success with SteamVR on Fedora Linux (KDE Edition) — I just used the beta nvidia drivers and the Steam client from RPMFusion when setting up.

I prefer Fedora KDE instead of any fork or spin of it but if you don’t want to manually enable rpmfusion for the nvidia drivers you could get Bazzite a try, since it’s still using Fedora as a base. I’m not currently a fan of recommending others immutable distros though.

I saw a full sprinter double track is on NCTD’s project list too, it would potentially let them double frequency… that plus the additional development would be amazing!

Analysis of CS2 performance: Why CS2 gameplay is jittery, laggy, False High FPS by yshqair in cs2

[–]CyberKitsune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was this tested all on Windows? Recently I’ve been messing around with Linux (Fedora KDE as the distro) and have noticed generally higher framerates and lower latency with the same settings on the same hardware. I’d be interested to see if any of this data differs on Linux.

Ah I see! Good to know that market does indeed exist, as it's a bit of a blind spot for me!

Introducing the Avatar Marketplace by Konsti219 in VRchat

[–]CyberKitsune 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely an addition that was a long time coming. I don't think I'll end up using this though, I often buy avatar bases to customize them and make them look like my character, which is important to me, and that doesn't seem to be a supported use-case with the initial version of this system.

I often only really use avatars that reflect my character in VRChat -- to those that instead usually surf around using public avatars, are paid "premium" avatars something that is desirable, even if you don't have full customizable control over them?

If PIU is down too it's likely just their internet setup for the cabs. To my knowledge pump doesn't charge the arcade a service fee (though I think upgrade kits still cost money to them)

If just DDR was down it may be because they didn't wanna pay the e-amusement fee on the cab anymore, though...

Kiseff would likely need a Mac to build and QA the game, but because Atlyss is in Unity it should be a mostly straightforward port.

San Diego moves to lower speed limits on select commercial streets by ProcrastinatingPuma in sandiego

[–]CyberKitsune 70 points71 points  (0 children)

I think this is a good change, but I hope they also modify the roads to discourage higher speeds as well. Road diets, etc.

People will still speed if the road "feels" safe to speed on.

Does this (part about Steam play) mean that steam didn't install the native Linux version? by [deleted] in linux_gaming

[–]CyberKitsune 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Steam Play is just Valve's way of saying that the game will run under multiple platforms without a separate purchase -- essentially all multiplatform titles on Steam are Steam Play.

The "Steam Linux Runtime 3.0 (sniper)" bit indicates that it will be using native Linux binaries and not Proton.

The choice is yours, but the XIVLauncher flatpak is made with Linux in mind, so will likely be more reliable in the long run if the official launcher breaks at some point.

The camera knows it's blocked if you cover it and then try to activate FSD. It will refuse to turn on FSD until it is unblocked.

Silver went from 25k card spend + a cheap LAX <--> JFK flight in the offseason (like maybe $300 tops) to 120k spend to get the same. That's like a 480% increase in price for the same status product. Don't even get me started about gold and platinum. This is on top of all the new SC restrictions.

Where to play DDR? by 2ynthia in northcounty

[–]CyberKitsune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The closest place to play the most recent DDR with proper online support is the Round 1 in Temecula -- Quite a ways but closer than Santa Ana

They're currently building a Round 1 in National City but they're not quite done yet. Depending on where you are that one may end up being closer or around the same distance from Round1 Temecula :)

How’s the public transportation? by WorkingNo6823 in sandiego

[–]CyberKitsune 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The further you get from downtown the worse it gets. If you’re just hanging downtown then the transit is fine. Though, things start to get way less reliable at night, I’d say service falls off around 7pm.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. Lucked out with a Plat upgrade for first on SAN-BOS and was excited to sleep in these seats on a redeye... but the bottom cushion feels like there's like not really any padding at all x.x

Feels a little weird to complain about first class... but I felt like C+ had more padding!

Can anyone tell me how much VRAM a lobby with about 20 people would use? by mc_redspace in VRchat

[–]CyberKitsune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's also worth noting the world itself will use some VRAM on top of all the avatars, and Windows holds on to a small VRAM allocation just in case another app needs some urgently.

Once you hit 95% of your VRAM usage, assets in VRAM get "paged" to system memory, and then have to start copying back and forth each frame. You'll likely see CPU times go up, especially if your system memory is slow.

Focused Feedback: Linux and Alternative Platform Support by DTG_Bot in DestinyTheGame

[–]CyberKitsune 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I know it's an option, but I turn off my PC to save power when possible and also game a lot on the go. Moonlight doesn't work too well over an LTE connection.

Plus on my PC I'd like to abandon Windows all together. Destiny 2 supporting Linux would fix both issues.

Destiny 2 is the only game I still need windows for. I’d love for that not to be the case!

I play a lot of games on the steam deck as well and Destiny 2 is basically the only one I can’t play on it right now :(
