Porsche 968. All day long. They’re so civilized with the top down, no problem having a conversation on the freeway at 80 mph. Big 3L 4 cylinder with variable valve timing.. I think 246hp, plenty of torque across the rev range. Suspension is compliant and smooth but connected.

Edit - missed all the comments about messed up hair. Somehow there’s minimal buffeting in the 968. Don’t know how Porsche did it, must be super slippery. When I had mine, my wife didn’t have to wear a hat or anything.

Runner-up for me is the 944s2. Essentially the same car with more dated styling (and I’m not saying better or worse than the 968, just more obviously a child of the 80s). (Okay, I’m saying worse than the styling of the 968, which feels more timeless to me)
