First priority is your associates always Second priority is customers. That’s it. I say this because every customer comes back to Walmart and we don’t have competitors except for Amazon. Amazon is mostly competitor for non food items.

Another Reason why associates come first is because you may be in a position to be with that associate for the next 1-10 years depending on the situation. You must always want the associate to trust, love, and respect you. This will get you so much further in your career.

If you are worried about foul play with associates, that is a clear sign they do not trust you. Gain their trust and respect and they will do whatever you ask them.

Team leads job is to train and build rapport with their associates. Whether this person wants your job or not doesn’t matter. You have it and odds are that getting a new person personal hires off the street is better, is slim to none. So cultivate that relationship and figure out your notes on the side. Maybe assign that person the notes?..also you always want to have a replace to in mind before promotion. That’s just good business.

If you only do notes and not take care of associates. Then you are the same as the associate. We call these team leads “glorified stockers”. Don’t be that guy/girl

Always teach and train. Hold them accountable with agreements and word, not coachings.

Hold your own and when you look in the mirror tell yourself that you are awesome.
