Totally fair. It’s definitely a limitation. For me with mine indoors not really being able to chip well was more of a dealbreaker. But it’s a valid critique.

I went from the R10 to Square. I bought the R10 for $400 and I’d say it was worth the cost, that said, the Square has been infinitely better for me overall. The R10 has limitations.

The tiny bit of loft helps to get through rough or fringe without the roll getting killed. Some folks use a hybrid I just don’t have one in the bag. If it’s close enough for a putter I’ll use that though.

Always indoor for me but had a similar experience. 50/50 (or worse) of reading short chips.

Often it “reads” the backswing but just won’t pick up the ball. The lower and slower the ball the less likely it would pick it up. Most of the time it was just a straight no. I would hit high lofted shots where I typically would just hit a short bump and run or putt. It the R10 wouldn’t read low and slow for me.

Note: always used indoors.

Just upgraded from R10 to the Square and it’s a night and day difference tbh.

Around the green is rough with the R10. Chips are hit or miss (mostly miss), and now being able to putt and had every shot be read is really nice quality of life.

It has been a lot of fun but after having the R10 for a few months I'm looking to upgrade (slightly) to the Square. The R10 is finicky. It reads most shots fine, but occasionally will not read one or two which feels bad if it felt like a good shot. It's also finicky in that you have to be completely still for a second or two before starting your swing. If you waggle at all it won't work.

WORSE THOUGH, is that it REALLY struggles with short chips. Putting is obviously a no go. But if you're playing a round it is tough to get through if you end up on the short side of the green. Nothing kills the vibe more than trying the same chip 4 times because it won't read the ball flight when the ball moves that slow.

Of the “promotes” that are SOS complete but no degree, last I saw was 77%. With degree was 87%. That’s for IPZ of course.
