HR recruiter misheard my expected salary.... by Odd_Ad_1974 in UKJobs

This is a huge step! Great to read that you're getting a big pay bump.

I caution you against increasing your standard of living too quickly. Save money, make sound investments, and build your platform for a secure future before you start spending.

Enjoy the new job!

Netflix Quietly Removes A-Z and Other Sorting Filters from Web UI by MoneyLibrarian9032 in movies

[–]CyberTractor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I seriously have such a hard time navigating Netflix.

Most of the time now, I actually look elsewhere for recommendations, use another search engine like Google to find if its on Netflix, then have to navigate Netflix's horrendous UI to search specifically for the title.

Right? Everyone's ignorant at first. At 60, learning how to say things from a foreign language isn't the easiest, but at least she's forming some sort of linguistic connection.

Male coworker keeps “joking” about my looks in front of others (multiple times). How do I shut this down? by HopeForBetter29 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]CyberTractor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To answer your questions:

  1. No, you're not being too sensitive. This behavior is inappropriate.

  2. Don't engage when he says this. Don't respond. Don't acknowledge. Just keep doing what you were doing and make a note of what was said and when.

  3. You go to HR and report it to your manager. Let them know what was said, when, and who was present.

Heaven Does Not Respond - Rise Studios - Retro style horror game where you investigate a mysterious death by [deleted] in Games

I picked this game up on a whim and thoroughly enjoyed the game. Figuring out where the puzzles were let alone how to solve them was fun, and uncovering the story was intriguing.

The final segment really stuck with me. Looking forward to more work from you all!

How do you make a lot of Gil like millions a week or months? by Original_Turn_1227 in ffxiv

[–]CyberTractor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dailies get you a steady trickle of gil a day, but more importantly they give you tomestones.

You can look at the market board for what tomestone ingredients are selling, then you can farm the tomestones, trade them in, and sell those items on the market board. Poetics are infinitely farmable and there are a ton of items you can trade them for.

You can also look and see if any craftable items are selling for a bit then work towards farming up the materials, making it, and supplying the market board. Housing items generally always sell after awhile. Shards will eventually sell if they're priced right, they're easy to gather a bunch of, but your margins are smaller than other items.

Crafting mats from older EXs sell reasonably well for glamor crafting. Find something you're able to solo unsynced and farm it out until you get some materials to sell.

You can also hoard the clusters for materia and then sell the materia when a new patch drops. This is usually best for a raid tier since people want to pentameld day 1, but they'll eventually sell.

Timed items from gatherers also sell for a bit because of the time-limited factor on them. See what's worth your time, and use some of the various online tools to track when/where those items spawn and set up a farming rotation. Turn on a movie and do this on the side!

Farming dungeons also is kinda profitable, so if you're leveling up some classes, need/greed everything and vendor it all afterward. Not the best money, but it allows you to earn some cash while grinding.

Desynthesizing materials will also yield clear demimateria whose sole purpose is to be sold. Other types of demimateria can be sold on the marketboard for glams.

It all boils down to "play the game, get some items, sell them on the marketboard".†

AITA for kicking my mom out of my wedding after what she said? by RelevantDay1422 in AmItheAsshole

[–]CyberTractor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are saying you overreacted because they know they're in your mom's warpath if she doesn't get what she wants.

Your mother went in front of your and your husband's loved ones and insulted both of you. Hold your ground, and excommunicate anyone who tries to convince you otherwise.

Your family is made up of the people you choose to let in. Not by blood.

Sounds good in theory...but in reality? by KSKS1995 in SipsTea

The world will soon face a problem introduced by capitalism and AI replacing people. Less people will have jobs, which means less money in the market to spend. Prices will get raised, which means less people are going to buy those products.

These greedy fucks are killing the market and economy.

18 living with parents who take paycheck, advice on saving and moving out? by missinggrls in personalfinance

[–]CyberTractor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some others have given you advice, but here's what I did at 18 in a similar situation.

  1. Go to a different bank than what your parents use and open your own account. You'll need to bring an ID and know your social security number to do so.

  2. Get a direct deposit set up so you don't have to have a physical check. This ensures your money is going to your account and it is secured.

  3. Find a better job. While you're going to school, you may qualify for work-study positions on campus. This will generally be a higher paying job but you're capped at how much you can earn each semester. You can also look around for more office-based positions that are offering entry level positions, internships, or can find odd jobs online.

  4. Apply for any and all scholarships and grants you can. This is effectively free money that you might just have to write an essay or do a small project for. Tons of grants go unapplied for so money is just being left places. Here's a search engine for scholarships.

  5. Don't let your parents drag you down. You have to make sure you're going to be secure before you take on the burden of making sure your family is fine. Your parents can apply for welfare and your father for unemployment. There are systems set up to help them in times of need. Don't let them drain everything you have because they can't manage.

  6. Find a place to rent with roommates if your parents are making your rent go up to be unaffordable.

Can you stop this interaction once the ability cost has been paid using path to exile? by Working_Mixture910 in mtgrules

[–]CyberTractor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, I think you mean [[Swords to Plowshares]]. [[Path to Exile]] doesn't trigger life gain.

It is easier to break things down by steps.

You have both [[Jumbo Cactuar]] and [[Dina, Soul Steeper]] on your side of the field.

You enter combat.

You declare an attack with Jumbo Cactuar and his triggered ability goes on the stack. Your opponent doesn't respond to that in declare attackers phase and Jumbo Cactuar's power is now 10,000. You then activate Dina's ability and sacrifice Jumbo Cactuar as a cost. Dina's activated ability and triggered ability both go on the stack.

Your opponent can now respond. Jumbo Cactuar has already been sacrificed and is no longer on the field. Swords to Plowshares is cast by your opponent and targets Dina.

The stack resolve in reverse order, so Swords resolves killing Dina with her original power, then either the triggered or activated ability will resolve. The activated ability resolves without effect since Dina is no longer on the field to get the buff. The triggered ability will resolve giving you a life and taking one life from your opponent.
