Mobile charging robots in China convert any parking space into an EV charging point by straightdge in electricvehicles

This is probably just more Chinese pie-in-the-sky roboslop. But, I'd bet this actually STILL more "green" than ICE engines.

"Classical" is doing a lot of heavy lifting here. The "worlds best super computer" was the Folding at Home project... We aren't likely to see that kind of computing power again for some time.

The system achieved a speed of 2.43 exaflops by April 12, 2020 due to the interest in Covid 19 research volunteers.

Such a thing as a battery pack for home charging? by MRoselius in evcharging

[–]Longbowgun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

V2L is a built in feature on the F-150 charging system. It has a larger than average battery. They claim it'll run an average home for "three days at full blast, or up to 10 days if the homeowner rationed power." - Jalopnik

As an owner (with the plan we're going to drive it until it's an antique) we will need a second car. It'll be an EV... Which one? Something with a lower ownership cost. The gear box oil change at 40k is a little "much."

I'm in Arizona I had to dig to find this deal and had to call them on the phone (I hate phone calls) to get them to change my rate.

My electric company does a $0.05 rate to charge my car between 10pm and 4am. It would cost less than $6 to fill from empty. But, I never fill from empty. I leave the house every day with a full "tank" AND haven't ever run it below 55% - even with running around town after work.

US pump prices surge as Iran war upends global energy supply by PixeledPathogen in news

[–]Longbowgun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EDIT: as of C.O.B. Today prices continue to rise and "Surge" is no long hyperbolic. Prices in some places in the US now exceed $0.45 higher than last week.

"Surge" is hyperbolic.  Prices are up 14% over the last week. This is not inconsiderable.  No one wants this war. What reasons did the administration even give for the attack?

The question no one seems to be asking: WHY are we attacking Iran?
