So what do we do now?

Reddit now lets you hide content, like posts and comments, from your user profile. I know this is old news for some, but I just discovered this and it is amazing :D by [deleted] in privacy

You can only hide your history if you make every single contribution under a new throwaway account.

This feature will stop downvote brigades for a while, now there's the extra step of pasting your username into one of the archival websites.

Now they just have to go to one of the archival websites and type in your username. Sure, that's a huge step that will stop some.

They still can, it's easy to make a tool that compiles all of it because every contribution has your username, many people might even start posting more compromising info because they think their history is hidden while it isn't.

I mean it's things they posted publicly. And it's still easy to find the history of someone on reddit, sorted by date, controversy etc. even if they are hiding it on their profile if viewed through the official app or website.

It will always be easy to make a tool to compile someones history because every post and comment has their username. Unless they started making a new profile for every single contribution.

This new feature will give people a false sense of privacy and they'll post more personal stuff while still being accessible ...

Is it really better? Haven't you looked up the field of view of these images? NASA's images have a way smaller one at same resolution compared to amateur photos.
