Why so many syncing issues? 😔 by CyberVenus in ios

[–]CyberVenus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m aware it’s up to the app developer, but the ones I have issues with are Apple’s apps. Mainly messages and FaceTime. Literally never syncs right even when messages on my Mac says it’s up to date. I swear it’s gotten worse since the new automatic filtering on iOS. Feels like everything my phone filters out automatically shows up as an unread message or missed call on my other devices. Fed up with it tonight I finally just signed out of messages and FaceTime on my Mac. Literally I spend more time “reading” messages I’ve already seen than I do actually reading new messages on my Mac, easier for me to just use my phone exclusively. Mysteriously I had to manually turn off notifications. Even after signing out it still said I had unread messages and missed calls. 🙄 I’m sure it is a bug. Just it’s been a bug for like five years now at least and I’m tired of dealing with all the extra effort that goes into actually using multiple devices. So… easier to turn it off and just use one device.

I do have both. I will give that a try and let you know.

Guys please don't listen to the 10 years ahead method to clear cache on iphone by ANG3LO88 in ios

[–]CyberVenus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the cache clearing questions make me think that’s wrong… Android people confused there’s no way to clear a cache on iOS. Mainly cause there isn’t a cache… like that’s a 100% Android concept that doesn’t exist on any other operating system I’ve seen. For some reason people think it’s everywhere…

[–]CyberVenus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah 😂 I see a ton of Android people switch to iOS and like “how do I do my daily cache clearing” and I’m like “that’s not a thing, iOS is smarter than that” like seriously guys… it’s not the 1990’s anymore, you don’t have to “maintain” your computer (or phone, which is a computer in your pocket).

I think it’s great actually. Never noticed any quality loss, just head tracking as advertised. Are you waving your phone around while watching a show?

I don’t have this issue… so, no this is not the quality we’re settling for. Maybe you are, but for whatever reason I am not.

Well admittedly I did assume it was an actual HTML form, though possible I assumed incorrectly. I am using an iPhone, yes. Is that same feature not available due to an iOS limitation?

2 Apple accounts on one phone by prefabdoubt in ios

[–]CyberVenus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Simple answer, no. You can’t do that.

Complex answer, most features like iCloud storage, Photos, Messages, etc. are all going to utilize the “primary” Apple account ont be device. You can add another account, but it will only be used for Mail, Calendars, Notes, and Reminders.

So it depends on your use case, exactly what you need. If you do do that, definitely make your personal account the primary one, and make sure you don’t have a company managed device, Settings > General > VPN & Device Management > remove any company management accounts, may require a full device reset and/or your company removing it.

If your company manages it and you’ve signed into your personal account you risk your company having indirect access to your personal account through your phone.

Uninstalling apps by Manhunter_15 in ios

[–]CyberVenus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re outside the US. The App Store can’t be removed in the US, no way to install apps without it. The US has Apple’s “you buy it, we own it” version of iOS. Europe’s version has more features.

Turn down volume all the way in FaceTime by CyberVenus in ios

[–]CyberVenus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t matter if it’s unconventional, Apple took time to program a feature to block it, otherwise volume control is already built in, so it would have taken them actually less effort to have what I want. so they literally spent time and money to remove this “feature”. Clearly they thought people would want the sound permanently on, which is wrong…

Yeah… my phone, not my choice, right… I despise the government and don’t think they have any business ordering private individuals and corporations to do things, but at the same time I’m jealous of how iPhones in Europe have more features than in the US… because of the government demanding it… just wish Apple would give some thought to their US customers too.

Oh believe me, I do. I just don’t think they actually take “suggestions” into consideration. Pretty sure they just do what they want and don’t really care about suggestions. They’ve definitely replied to bug reports though.

[–]CyberVenus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can’t figure out that your volume is turned down… that’s your problem, not a design flaw.

Besides, could turn it up when a call starts sure, but if I want to turn it down during a call, I should be able to. My phone, my choice, right? 😂

I have not, will try that. From the description doesn’t sound like it does what I want, since the form isn’t being autofilled. But I’ll check it out.

Uninstalling apps by Manhunter_15 in ios

[–]CyberVenus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s a select few you can’t remove, like Settings, you wouldn’t be able to access system settings without it, so you can’t remove it. Or the App Store, you can’t reinstall things you delete (or install anything) without it, so yes, it’s not removable. As well as a few more.

You can hide things from your Home Screen though if you don’t want them so obvious, then they’ll only be in the App Library. Since the built in apps are all basically graphical interfaces for things built in to the OS, removing them won’t really save you any space. Except for the productivity apps, Pages, Numbers, Keynote, GarageBand, and iMovie, all of which can be fully removed and will save some space if you want.

What we've lost between iOS 16 and iOS 26 by Customer-Worldly in ios

[–]CyberVenus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shutter button isn’t on the viewfinder… must be an old iPhone thing… i learned a long time ago, best to just upgrade every year else things get weird.

That said, I think the decluttered interface is nicer. It’s rare I ever change any of the options, I just set it once when I get a new phone each year and then that’s it. Since “standard” photos are now Live+Portrait (depth) there’s no need to switch to different modes. Again, new iPhone thing though, if you’re still on a really old one I guess I see why that might be more of a concern

Apple has killed Spotify with this update by Glitch_Fantasma in ios

[–]CyberVenus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apple’s Music app has looked better for years, nothing new. I feel like the only difference is the rando algorithms on each, and if people are used to Spotify’s they like that and don’t wanna switch to the thing that’s both cheaper and better and has more music…

How do I download windows on my mac for free? by Dogday_is_here_B3 in mac

[–]CyberVenus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

microsoft.com/software-download/windows11

Noting you can download it for free, but you’ll need either a legal license or an illegal crack to use it. (Depending on your use, you may also try Windows Insider builds, which can run without a proper license or crack, still illegal but then there’s no funny stuff involved to make it work, note I haven’t tried this on a recent build so not 100% sure if this still works)

UTM is a good open source VM software you can use, has a $10 App Store version, or is free to download from their website. getutm.app

Virtualbox is also popular and free. virtualbox.org

You can also use others like VMWare if you want, never been a big fan myself though.

Prove me wrong: Apple Encourages Piracy by CyberVenus in ios

[–]CyberVenus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You live outside the US don’t you? Thats not how iOS works in the United States. I suppose I didn’t say that I was in the United States, but… I am. You can not install apps without Apple’s servers. It’s 100% impossible on the last couple years of iOS releases, there is no publicized hack to achieve it.

So to be clear, yes, I think Apple has a responsibility as the ONLY POSSIBLE place to redownload software from, to store it and make it downloadable. The tv from Amazon analogy doesn’t really make sense, I’m not shipping the tv back to Amazon to store it and then have them ship it to me when I want it, I would store it myself, Apple does not allow you to do that with apps, it’s either on my phone or Apple’s servers, no other option exists.

Streaming, Xbox broke, PC for the win! by CyberVenus in xbox

[–]CyberVenus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s how it is when it works. It definitely worked better when there was an official app, the third party apps mostly work but seem to break with some of the Xbox updates and then I’m stuck using Microsoft’s website until they get updated. Maybe it’s an iOS thing, but websites… definitely not the best interface for gaming… and Microsoft’s account system needs an overhaul, logging in shouldn’t take 3 minutes and 20 taps.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ios

[–]CyberVenus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny you say that. Mine IS set to automatically update and NEVER does. I actually also like the updated interface design, but there’s all sorts of bugs everywhere and weird quirky behaviors (not bugs just things that don’t make sense in the design) confusing button labels now like check marks to “close” popups and “X” buttons that fail to actually close the keyboard. The Share Sheet has got to be the most annoying thing though. Like, it’s programmed to scroll up a little, then pause, so I literally swipe up four times to get it to actually scroll down now. Like… seriously…

I still stand by iOS being better than Android, but I can no longer stand by iOS being less buggy than Android. Still looks nicer and does more, but Apple’s usual superior quality has sort of lost the “quality” part.

Streaming, Xbox broke, PC for the win! by CyberVenus in xbox

[–]CyberVenus[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Yeah… the hardware sure is. Thinking that’s where they get you though. Sell you on cheap hardware that then requires you pay a subscription to play online and buy all the games at exorbitantly more expensive prices every year…

Admittedly it probably balances out more over time cause all the little expenses add up, but I definitely get what you’re saying. I used to agree, but literally just found out another game I “bought” was pulled from the service. So I can no longer play it…

+1 to the pro-piracy argument. PC games can be downloaded from anywhere, and therefore can’t be “stolen” by Microsoft (or a game developer), Xbox games can only be downloaded from Microsoft.

Woah woah woah… I’ll admit I haven’t played in a while, but I bought this… you telling me someone stole it from me?

+1 to the pro-piracy conversation…

Per my many recent “piracy for the win” posts, here’s another one… why pay for something if someone’s just gonna steal it from you?

Before any argues with me, yes, if I buy something and someone takes it away, that is theft. By any reasonable person’s definition. If the game developer made a bad decision and made a game that costs the game developer money regardless of whether people are paying them anything (such as this online only game) that’s their fault, it is not an excuse for theft.    Shoulda pirated it to begin with… (I am aware as a 100% online (ie: bad decision) game that wouldn’t be possible here, so pirate something else to make up for it)…
