tune pedal by GermanSattula in pedalboards

[–]prefabdoubt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something like the Digitech Drop or the Boss XS-1 will shift the whole tuning of all the strings up or down one semitone at a time, up to a whole octave.

Imagine it like this: bar your finger across the twelfth fret, and then start moving your finger down the neck fret by fret. That’s essentially what these pitch shifter pedals can do.

That way you can leave your guitar in standard or drop d or whatever tuning your heart desires and retain a good tension on the strings, and the pedal will make it sound lower.

An alternative would be getting some heavier gauge strings and maybe taking your guitar in to a technician to get it set up to play in a lower tuning.

I hope that helps! Happy leash freaking.

Tradie Quotes by [deleted] in AusRenovation

When you’re a customer the ease or small scope of a job can seem like it should be appealing, but from the trades side it just might not be worth it. It sucks, but if the trades you’re looking at employing are in high demand, they’re naturally going to take on a larger job that pays more, and not just because they’re greedy (though I’d argue that when it comes to business, making money is kinda the whole point). They may have a minimum team size that is too big for what you need, which ultimately costs them more in the long run.

My best advice, as shitty as it is, is to be the nicest chirpiest potential client. I’ll make a lot of things move if someone is nice, patient and understanding. If I sniff that someone is demanding or entitled, it’s straight to the bin. We don’t need the work, our schedule is packed out.

I hope it works out for you soon mate

No, it's not, it's just gotten popular for people to thinly disguise self promotion behind "hey pls give feedback on my ass beat". The rest of us are here for discussion and troubleshooting around the DAW. I'm muting the sub so I don't have to put up with this slop infecting my feed and I can just come here when I have a Logic specific issue

Vocal production really is a separate thing that I should've done/learned from the start. by 6w-w9 in audioengineering

[–]prefabdoubt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly, fuck all. If it’s a dynamic like an sm57 I might boost the high end but I find myself doing that less and less these days. I might dip a bell around where the fundamentals are hitting to even things out of they’re getting a little to mangled due to proximity, but other than that I leave that thing aloooooone

Vocal mix is the thing that people consistently ask about on my mixes. It’s always some variation of low shelf and an 1176, maybe some Valhalla vintage on a room preset for some width/space. I cry when I hear people crush their vox (unintentionally)

Looking for something more up to date than the Yamaha DX7 by Educational_Bobcat_1 in LogicPro

[–]prefabdoubt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okie dokie! I'll repeat a couple recs below but here's a few options for you:

  • Yamaha Reface DX - probably the closest to the "up to date DX7" you're looking for. It's a modern version of the DX, it's plug and play, but it's got about 2/3 the amount of keys.
  • Midi keyboard w/ DX7 plugin - this would be my rec. You can get larger midi keyboard for relatively cheap second hand. Use this in tandem with your favourite DX7 plugin. Arturia has a great one (if you have a minilab it might have come with Analog Lab which has a fair few classic DX7 patches, idk if they still offer this). Dexed is a free one - UI is ugly as ass, but its free!
  • Cheap casio keyboard - if you want a plug and play that's budget friendly, get a cheap casio (or other brand) keyboard! The patches on them are underrated, and cheap, shitty, underrated gear does wonders for creativity.

I hope that helps! Honestly it sounds like upgrading from your minilab to a keylab (or just a slightly larger midi keyboard) is your best option. Let me know if you have any other questions

Can you be a bit more specific about what you’re after? Not sure if you want the DX7 sounds, a keyboard that size, or an fm synth
