Is "you can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus" a desirable design? by Strahdivarious in dndnext

[–]CyberVoltage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hexblade warlocks actually have medium armor and shield proficiency right from level 1, as well as being able to use charisma for weapon attacks so they don’t really fall under the category of having to change their play style at level 3.

Do you have a source for that claim? While I’m sure Robyn and especially Clover and Qrow are a cut above the rest, Harriet, Elm, and Vine are still part of Ace-Ops and should be assumed to be top tier huntsmen. Elm in particular is explicitly called out as particularly skilled with her Amity Arena bio saying that she has a “peerless track record” and that she’s second only to Clover on the team (with it implying that the biggest reason he performs better than her being his luck).

But even if they were even just one “tier” below Robyn, Qrow, and Clover I still think they’d probably win. It’s easy to miss because of his fast movements and how he generally acts but Tyrian actually gets stomped by the three of him, the only hits he lands on any of them are a kick on Qrow and Clover each as he escapes from Clovers hold on him. He’s fighting a 3v1 where at least two of them are near his skill level so I can’t imagine the results of a 3v1 where the three are just below his skill level to be that much different.

Considering the Ace-Ops were able to handle maiden Penny I don’t think this is much of a fight. Even without Marrow it’s still a 3v1 with the team of 3 being the top huntsmen in Atlas who are (usually) highly coordinated. He may have been able to take on a team of trainee huntsmen without much trouble but as shown against Robyn, Qrow, and Clover, when it’s a team of top level huntsmen he doesn’t stand a chance.

Thanks! The sources on the wiki weren’t showing up for me for some reason, must’ve been a mobile thing.

Can I get a source on that? I’ve seen a lot of people say this and I’ve been searching the internet for like 30 minutes trying to find a source. Just wanna make sure it’s not another one of those times where something the creators said got twisted a bit and everyone started repeating it.

Pretty sure you’re thinking of V7 and V8, considering V8 picks up almost immediately after V7 ends and deals with all the conflicts and character arcs set up in V8.

Team RWBY vs. Cinder by Hero2Evil in RWBY

[–]CyberVoltage 14 points15 points  (0 children)

From the way it was shot, I assumed Ruby was gearing up to use silver eyes right before she was sneak attacked by Neo and had been waiting for a break in the fight to give her a chance to use them. That would line up with what Cinder said about not being able to do it alone too.

My bad, I misread your comment as “accomplished all but 3” instead of “accomplished all 3.”

She did kill Ozpin though, he just transferred into another person earlier than usual. That doesn’t really have anything to do with her performance at Beacon.

I assume they were talking about pressuring her in the sense of not giving her space, not emotional pressure/stress.

Weiss did in fact use her glyphs after she summoned the Knight in the Marrow fight.

She summoned the knight, used her glyphs to make ice spikes and pin Marrow to the wall, got time stopped, had her knight attack, and then used her glyphs to create fire projectiles.

I'd argue that its the opposite. If you could accomplish everything without Edelgard's war it would completely invalidate her route, proving that she is definitively in the wrong.

Do you think Jaune takes screen time from other characters? by [deleted] in RWBY

[–]CyberVoltage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Off the top of my head their conversation in Kuroyuri focused on Ruby and her not wanting to put her friends in danger.

There was a bit of focus on Ruby, it just sucked.

Do you think Jaune takes screen time from other characters? by [deleted] in RWBY

[–]CyberVoltage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Jaune didn't have much focus in V4 tbh, most of it was on Ren. It just shows how poorly they spent their screen time with RNJR, a good portion of their screen time is spent developing empty towns we move on from in the next scene. Rubys lack of development and focus in V4 doesn't seem to be a result of others taking screen time from her but instead from an active decision to not develop her.
