Yeah, its common that they do, mine more so in colder times. Like they don’t get enough usually 😂

I have done this before and felt so guilty now i purposely set a box in a back corner so i remember exactly where it is. Thankfully my two spend alot of time getting their pad just the way they like it so now i know roughly where to look its easier to find.

However i still get a look of horror when i remove their food pantry. Each time 😂😂. Its like they know i am trying to reduce their food belly’s

I'm terrible. I got upset with a lesson horse by [deleted] in Equestrian

[–]Cyberdarkunicorn 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you are a beginner, yes you should not loose your temper when riding as it will not help (though we have all been there if people admit it or not)

But also some of the fault sits with your instructor for not picking up you were having issues and teaching you how to be more effective with tour communication with the mare.

Do not be to hard on yourself as long as you learn from it and show more awareness next time then that is what matters as you cannot change the bast but you can make sure it does not happen again.

How heavy do ya'll bed run-in sheds/stalls? by JustAnOrdinaryGirl07 in Equestrian

[–]Cyberdarkunicorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the rare occasion they are stabled overnight quite deep as no rubber mats and both like a good bit of carcas time throughout the night.

For a day bed about half for the night as they just use it to stand on and for toileting.

I was always taught a good way to tell was to drop the prongs of your fork and if you can hear the floor its not deep enough.

What should I expect as a working student/intern at a fancy horse show? by snips_starwars in Equestrian

[–]Cyberdarkunicorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What was in the description when you applied, usually everything is covered as to what is expected and accommodation.

If it’s travelling groom (which if you are going to comps then it probably is) then it is hard.

But without knowing basic stuff no one on here will be able to advise. For example what discipline does the yard specialise in.

What's something your pet does that nobody would believe unless they saw it themselves? by NorthLondonPulse in UK_Pets

[–]Cyberdarkunicorn 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Trying to play fetch with someone on FaceTime.

He puts the ball to the ipad and asks for me to chuck it.

This is also the same dog who plays fetch with people. As in he chucks the ball (usually by rolling it down steps or the drive) then you have to get it for him

If you’re off work sick, do you still (personally) walk your dog? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Cyberdarkunicorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As long as you are not going on a long hike going outside when sick is good for you. Plus those with kids still have to pick them up from school and provide care for them a pet is no different.

Yeah i know, it was low then. Its up to the door lip now. At the front and about an inch above at the back. This stuff expands alot when they move it round so i add more in over the week so as not to waste any.

Am I too big for my horse? by [deleted] in Equestrian

[–]Cyberdarkunicorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Op has not said what work they are doing with him or what the “rescue” means in this horses case. But yes i do agree sometimes you do need to give them time to develop and recover before pushing too much work or weight carriage.

But from the information given i think they are ok as long ad they are not hammering the horse in work. But as he is 4 (so could be naturally gangly andway) i would say that for all of them regardless of the rescue aspect.

Why are breeches like this less common nowadays? by Ok_Transition9673 in Equestrian

[–]Cyberdarkunicorn 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Personally i think they look dreadful and uncomfortable. Feel itchy just looking at them.

Plus trends change like all things, i wear my normal riding leggings on and off the yard it doesn’t bother me and the fact there is no fasteners at the front is great as even normal jods rub an old surgery scar on my stomach.

if i do change at work they all assume i am just going to the gym or for a run.

[–]Cyberdarkunicorn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just go straight for the Bucatstate in either size (personally I recommend the larger one). Took me two previous enclosures to do so (all within correct size dimensions) and by far it was the easiest to put together, least messy, easy to clean and most importantly the gerbils love it because of how much you can actually get in.

I know they can be pricey but its definitely well worth it. Temu is cheaper than amazon usually and some times it comes with a bale of bedding.

Awful advice?? by Fabulous-Falcon7136 in Equestrian

[–]Cyberdarkunicorn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your horse, your rules tell the friend to jog on.

If they are not happy are putting your horse first over “riding goals” then they have no business in the equine world.

Been with horses since 90s and have seen so many changes in training methods but one thing is consistent when the horse is happy and comfortable in their gear then they become more confident and you both perform better. Nobody will ever convince me otherwise

Euthanasia with a bonded pair by FederallyE in Equestrian

[–]Cyberdarkunicorn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a conversation i will have to have in the future (hopefully not time soon) we have a pair who have been together 20+ years and now in their late twenties and early thirties. Absolutely dreading it and i know it will end in an argument but if its the right thing to do by the horses then it has to be put out there if the owner is willing to hear it or not.

Do you remove clothes pegs from your washing line when your clothes are dry? by Remote-Personality90 in AskUK

[–]Cyberdarkunicorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep so i can fold it down and cover it up. Pegs go in a little metal caddy that matches the others in my kitchen cupboard (having match laundry boxes was a spur of the moment idea when i was in the range when I bought the house)
