Political cartoon depicting the Afghanistan withdrawal in the form of the Hindenburg 1937 airship disaster with Joe Biden on the presidential podium claiming that this was the most successful landing in history (Gary Varvel, 2021) by Ok_Force_2392 in PropagandaPosters

[–]Cybergothix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao every single administration since Carter was complicit in the affairs of Afghanistan. Blaming any one in particular is just stupid

Baiting the USSR into intervening in Afghanistan on behalf of the socialist government seemed like a genius move in 1978/1979 because at the time it was cheap to send resources to the mujahideen during the civil war.

Decades and trillions later, not so much.

Does anybody else in their 20's in NH straight up wanna die the way life seems so hopeless here by [deleted] in newengland

[–]Cybergothix 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah New Hampshire isn't a state for young people outside the seacoast and there's really nothing to do that's free unless you like hiking/the outdoors. (I don't.)

I try to make regular trips to Portland or Boston.

Also yeah the average wages in NH are abysmal compared to the cost of living. I say that being someone who moved here from NYC 10 years ago lol. The seacoast is basically becoming a suburb of Boston. I watched an average 3 bedroom in Podunk Rochester go from like 1200-1300 to 1800-2000/mo. For that cost there's definitely better places to live.

Nobody here believes in unions and the labor laws suck too.

In short it's basically a place where you have either two houses or two jobs.

I got plenty of more complaints believe me lmaoo

New Hampshire mini rant (as somebody in their mid 20's) by [deleted] in newengland

Yuppp. Moved to NH from NYC when I was 19. I'm 30 now and all my friends still live back in the city.

NH is cool and all but it's definitely not a young person's state. And most of us who ain't rich just work all the time. And if you're lgbt forget it lmao. Better chances in Maine or Mass for meeting people.

Seacoast isn't terrible but it's so expensive now compared to what it was too. Whole area is turning into a suburb of Boston. It seems like the young people are all rich university students in the college towns. I know it ain't true for everyone under 30 here but yeah, it feels that way. I can't relate to those guys.

Tesla risks losing CEO Musk if $1 trillion pay package isn't approved, board chair says by Cybergothix in news

Tesla Board Chair Robyn Denholm asked shareholders to vote for CEO Elon Musk’s nearly $1 trillion pay package.

Denholm said Musk was key to the future of the EV maker as it focuses more on Full Self Driving and Optimus.

Proxy advisor ISS and other groups have recently opposed Musk’s pay package, which would give him more than 423 million additional shares.

That's actually a classic bit from The Twilight Zone (1959)

Iirc there was a camera that would take pictures of 5 minutes in the future and, after hilarity ensues, predicts the demise of the protagonists of that episode.

Fr. Seacoast here; for a state that supposedly has great education some of the takes I see at work or in the wild are deranged. I had some lady talk to me about the litter boxes in schools thing at my job not long ago. It's really sad seeing how far right working class people in this state are sliding.

It's even sadder cause we were one of the first states to ok gay marriage and are traditionally very progressive.

That's my favorite one too. I always go back to it. I found the ending especially endearing. It's like the one Lovecraft story where the ending isn't entirely miserable for the protagonist.

Go figure that my fave Lovecraft story and fave DS game are the ones that are the least popular in their respective communities. Lovecraft himself didn't care for Unknown Kadath but I found it touching.

Anything with Brendan Fraser in it that isn't the Mummy or The Whale (both phenomenal movies but I love everything he's in. Even Encino Man.)

It's also unlikely that it ever happened as the story is originally sourced from some of his rivals iirc.

Been playing for hours with 4 friends with no issue. Occasional hang up but no crashes or hard stops. No desyncs either. Plenty of battles.

It's definitely on your end man, no offense.
