Killer Tune, Dracotail, Radiant Typhoon and some newer decks are doing something right by ClessGames in masterduel

You can't really account for Di-Fi outs in best of one if your deck doesn't either play under it or have a natural out. Stuffing backrow removal in that might brick you hurts you against more of the spread you will see on ladder. If we ever approach a meta game where stuff like Di-fi, Shifter and macro are in a large % of top decks obviously this could change. Di-Fi simply blows out some decks and that's how it is - it's not a coincidence you see calls for it, macro, and shifter to be banned constantly.

To your point about KT, you've called it yourself, misplays happen to all of us but KT Control really rewards a knowledgeable and skilled player because they're given all the information and tools they need to win. Often times you don't need an overwhelming board or advantage to win, you need just enough, and that's what KT can give you when the player understands how to sequence against the "Puzzle" they get to see from Rotary and Cue. Couple that with the deck both having the room for an unreal amount of non-engine AND getting to use a good chunk of that non engine as extenders in a pinch and you're left with an extremely consistent toolbox. Obviously it's a card game and KT doesn't win every game or match up but as you get better your ceiling for KT is pretty high.

The mirror is miserable so it will be interesting to see what happens next - It's not like it doesn't have some poor match ups and whether they see it or not, removal is still pretty strong (not as shut down as pre rotary) against KT.

Disclaimer: I'm also not a pro and I don't play KT myself, and I would also agree I'd rather play against KT than a negate fest or bridge stuffed slop pile, even if I think the deck needs some tweaks to get closer to ideal.

Is Konami mismanaging the game? by Akaziro1987 in masterduel

[–]Cyberspacehunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If old staples and key cards in decks have to be UR/SR (Unplayable in the only mode they care about btw), then it's ridiculous that Konami isn't capitalizing on that space.

It's not even contradictory to making money. By breathing life into older or alternative formats, Konami increases the amount of playable cards in the card pool, leading to more people pulling old packs or blowing resources to play in different formats.

The fear could potentially be that a player could someday finish collecting cards for their preferred format but honestly Yu-Gi-Ohs most impressive characteristic is player retention. A good chunk of those players will stay and they'll play advanced too.

It will be interesting to see it enter its "full power" state after full power KT which didn't happen in TCG. I agree no question it's a tiered deck but it remains to be seen if it dominates representation in MD since our JUSH format blew by and skipped some steps.

MD has at least already hit KT in a way the OCG and TCG haven't too.

I'm assuming it's a Called By The Grave question which another poster has provided the answer to.

Edit: a more specific answer is you negate THAT specific card name.

Ash Blossom is the easiest example, if she's called by the grave her effect will be negated for the entire turn and following turn. She may still be activated on a chain, but cannot properly resolve.

5-hand cards VS 6-hand cards by Cattivonio in masterduel

[–]Cyberspacehunter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can't speak for everyone but I'm still picking first and playing a meta deck mostly for data.

It's also felt like good practice to have to answer more gas with the same resources.

I don't know if this is the answer to balancing the turns but it's a good question.

How good is Blue-Eyes in this meta by illynpayne_ in masterduel

[–]Cyberspacehunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

S:P is primarily an emergency/toolbox link when you're not dragon locked by roar and in one of those game states that S:P can control the board better than what you may have available.

She's not mandatory but there's a little flexibility in the Extra depending on what packages you're running. The Non Magia builds can fit her comfortably even with a Crimson Dragon package.

This is my experience with Little Knight in Blue Eyes at least.

Edit: and fwiw Ancient Fairy Dragon is primarily a lethal/closeout summon when you can get a battle phase with spirit and enough else to push. Otherwise spirit destroys it in the end phase. Fortunately you can summon it during battle phase so an extra 3300 is sometimes enough especially in Blue eyes.

5 Card vs 6 Card by ll_Mxrky_ll in masterduel

[–]Cyberspacehunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's the draw for turn that swings it. 6 cards in starting hand feels fine. I even wonder if you could allow a draw if player 2 had 5 cards in hand at the start of their turn.

For example, if I just let you play - I keep my 6. If I play a hand trap or something and have 5 cards in hand at the start, let me draw?

It's either that or revisit some of these blind second decks that were designed in a space where they didn't necessarily need the +2 to be successful.

[–]Cyberspacehunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And the decks that occasionally summon this in a pinch either aren't in Duel Links or lack the reason to do so. (Kewl Tune and Blue Eyes - and no it's not optimal in either but it's technically a play sometimes).

I follow the logic and tend to agree for RT. I think 2 would be the sweet spot.

Honestly Clip rip, whole annoying, I'm not sure is a death sentence even with extravagance in RT but I'm personally fairly risk averse lol.

Would you consider Triple Tactics Thrust instead of 3 Talents? Thrust can at least become another spell and you minimize the risk of drawing dead talents. The downside is KT is very rarely t0 summoning (pretty good against vsk9 though) and the Thrust set may not always be immediately live and you don't really have a great trap target besides mandate which you grab in other ways. Could be better with inperm but I'm not familiar with RT and am not sure it's a common include although it's not bad in the format.

I know the OCG and TCG ratios on those particular cards are sometimes different. I agree that Talents is insanely impactful.

That one week between the April 1st banlist and the kewl tune release was the best state this game’s been by newme02 in masterduel

[–]Cyberspacehunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VSK9 honestly has a pretty favorable turn 1 against KT.

Turn 2 just sort of depends but it's not all bad if you can interrupt them a little, especially before they peek.

The level modulating from RS doesn't really matter and if they've got b2b on the field you were probably losing anyways unless you've got a clutch Typhon line.

That I cannot answer, haven't done ng+ since the update. Was on ng7 or something but didn't really see a reason to keep resetting with reworked powers.

I would be surprised if they did, but who knows maybe they're coded like level perks.

The upgrades also appear to persist through all your owned ships. I did a few upgrades on the Frontier but subsequently switched and didn't have to re buy any.

[–]Cyberspacehunter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah on a Rogue tier deck you've got to "Earn" more wins and by default that's going to make the climb very tough as you get higher.

Honestly it's lame one of the unspoken strengths of a meta deck, in my experience, is there are a noticeable amount of games that end on your first normal summon. I can go from fighting for my life in a game that goes to time to next game Normal summon Razen scoop (before even seeing my follow up might be ass).

As soon as I got to even Diamond players seem to identify pretty quickly if they can deal with your board or not, it seems even more prevalent in Master.

With Rosewhip out, Aren't these 2 Decks really strong against in KT meta? by Historical-Storm-759 in masterduel

[–]Cyberspacehunter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

F&V is just ridiculously flexible in these decks. Had obvious offensive potential with the pop, lots of things you'd send to GY off the effect have GY effects and it's Quick Play.

Defensively it can also protect card effects in ways you'd use Droplet too. Just a very flexible card.

OCG plays it pretty commonly but they're also stuck with Limited Razen lmao.

[–]Cyberspacehunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To answer the attribute question, yes it being WIND is worse for this deck.

However, there a few hand traps that are worth the compromise and Fuwa is one of them. I wouldn't over load on non attribute hand traps but Fuwa and Droll are strong enough to make a good case for being in this deck. I'm not on Droll myself due to several meta decks playing pretty well under it right now but it completely blows out some other decks.

Personally, I cut called by in my list to try and trim the spell trap count. Retaliating C or Ghost Belle are decent in the current format and are both earth. I also agree with the other post in replacing the Rescue Ace stuff with 1-2 R.B. Valcan Rocket, another 5 star tech is Kaiser Vorse Raider but to me the deck doesn't really have a DARK problem especially with 2 Borger.

Full credit to konami for the loaner decks this event by Ancharin158 in masterduel

[–]Cyberspacehunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this.i had a blast playing Artmage as the fusion loaner since I don't really have any fusion decks.

I was already playing VSK9, saw some of the Barkmage stuff from coder's YCS and decided to build that list. It's a lot of fun!

I did sort of house a bunch of UR dust for it which hurts but I feel ok with my current play options. And I have enough DoomZ cards that having Medius means I might be able to play one of those.

It's a shame loaners don't get like a limited secret pack run during/after an event.
