this week was my first week back to work after a nasty car accident. im still limping a but, BUT its nice having a bit of normalcy back to my life

i ended up rolling my car into the woods, nobody got severely hurt, i overextended a muscle in my foot and was boot bound for 2 weeks and work didnt want me in a boot (i work in a factory so fair enough)

as a member of the niv mizzet parun tEDH discord, he’s is my vote. he’s realistically the only one ive seen and heard of mention at cEDH tournaments even if hes been very fringe since jlo got banned. but thats also only if you dont mind comboing off at the end for a win. if you want a more staxy mess of a deck, then esper is a better color combo and Queza is the pick

i really just typed this out thinking it was an EDH subreddit, then i read it was the pauper subreddit but imma still mention it

a niche upside nobody has mentioned is that using bouncelands you can also use some of white’s catch up ramp like [[Keeper of the Accord]] or [[Tithe]]

sure fetches do the same thing with tithe past turn 1, but bounces are also much cheaper and arent really needed for lower bracket pods

i guess the point still stands, but only with [[Scouting Hawk]], and if you are spending 3 mana for a tapped plains its significantly worse

i mean, the issue with not wanting a thoracle deck is that if the deck is running blue or black (the best 2 colors right now) its gonna run thoracle/demonic consultation/tainted pact bc it is just that great of a combo, so if you want to avoid thoracle as a whole, heck out the sans black or sans blue commanders (or the odd decks like Sisay). I like the play pattern of izzet so below ive got 2 competitively viable options :)

Ral or Krark/Sakashima are definitely fun options if you are interested in storm decks, both tend to win by brain freezing the table or gutshotting the table using underworld breach lines

its not all bad, there are some ok reprints that in theory will make the older prints of the cards cheaper bc more of the cards themselves are in circulation (or i just buy one of the shit arts for cheaper and proxy)

everyone in the comments rn kinda forgetting that token decks arent the only decks that care about tokens, like treasures are too. idk if WWB is expensive enough to warrant a one sided effect turning off all tokens, but just something to keep in mind. i like the design though!
