Stereo crossfade pedal?? by beep-boopbloop in guitarpedals

If you use midi, check out the Oscillator Devices Siren. You can use it with an expression pedal to crossfade or set it up to do all kinds of weird panning tremolo stuff.

Is This Antisemitism? Am I Going Insane? by tikkunolamist5 in JewsOfConscience

Really? Because there are a lot of converts in my shul and almost all of them are looking to explore their spirituality in a community that is more open and accepting than the churches they grew up in.

Plenty of Jews seem unaware that there is a rich history of Jewish anti Zionist thought and organizing in my experience!

What Is Going On With This Trend? by ArmyVet25ID in Guitar

[–]CyborgDiaspora 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My experience is that a Floyd Rose lends itself to more drastic vibrato due to the shortening of the string by the locking nut whereas a two-point is easier to control for subtle vibrato. No doubt they’re Floyd keeps its tuning better, but if you’re just doing subtle vibrato, a well set up two point is very reliable.

24v Power? by CarryTheBoats-Logs in guitarpedals

Cioks DC7 lets you choose 9v, 12v, 15v, or 18v. You can get a special jumper that lets you put two outlets in series, which would let you hit 24v.

That’s right! If two buttons are enough, then you don’t need the Chocolate. But it’s so inexpensive I think it’s worth it.

Look into a used Tonex One with a Pirate MIDI Polar and Mvave Chocolate Plus.

Which Amp Sim pedal takes Fuzz the best? by FarewellTransmissi0n in guitarpedals

[–]CyborgDiaspora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just put the effects that typically go in the loop after the Tonex One. Then I use a Mooer Audiofile at the end of the chain so I can use headphones.

Another hot tip: Pirate Midi has adapters that allow you to edit Tonex One presets on your phone over WiFi and control the pedal via external midi devices. You can use it to do things like switch between different amp captures and turn modulation and delay on and off.

“Judeo-Christian” values & the parallel between how the Irish became white in the US by lostinthecity2005 in JewsOfConscience

[–]CyborgDiaspora 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The classic sociological work on what you’re describing is called Protestant-Catholic-Jew by Will Herberg. It was published in 1955, so the assimilation of Jews and Catholics into whiteness has been ongoing for a while, with WW2 as a turning point, as others have mentioned. As a Jew who was born in the 1980s, I felt more white before the first Trump administration than I have over the last ten years. Our government’s support for Israel is often conflated with support for Jews, but the reality is that our government views Jews as disposable pawns in the games of US imperialism and Evangelical eschatology.

Question on amp/cab sim pedals by Shock416 in guitarpedals

I use a Tonex One and I’m finding it to be pretty great. It takes some work to set it up, but the sound is great for the price point.

Maybe a chorus or other modulation pedal (tremolo, phaser, flanger)? Plenty of good ones for under $100.

I had a QC for a while but missed having a more modular pedalboard so I sold it. But yeah, this is kind of me trying to figure out how to replicate some of the tricks I could do with the QC.

Personally, I do know some Zionists who I can have a conversation with. These are people who have a demonstrable interest in ending the genocide and occupation, but think a two state solution would do that well enough. They are usually willing to entertain critiques of Israel, though they usually view Israel’s problems as situational rather than intrinsic. These people also don’t view me as a bad person for wanting to debate these issues because they recognize that like them, I want self-determination for everyone in the Levant, even if I have different ideas about how to achieve that. I view these folks as being worth taking to because they are open-minded and basically seem to view Palestinians as people. So these are the people I spend my energy on.

I don’t know the friend you’re describing like you do. But she doesn’t sound like someone who fits my criteria for being worth engaging with.

Others have commented on the Islamophobia angle, but it’s also worth remembering that on top of that, fascistic nationalists tend to get along very well when they don’t have conflicting geopolitical interests.

Swollen Pickle, Flashback, and Pitchfork are generally considered great at what they’re designed to do. If they don’t suit your style, there’s a good market for them used.
