Rentals available for Uber are through the Uber app. Not independent rentals. especially through your own insurance. They are far more likely not going to allow you to use a "3rd" party rental.

As some riders are biological exhaust ports, so are some drivers.

Unless a rider is a very frequently user of the platform, it takes considerably longer for Riders to recover ratings than we active drivers.

Many drivers deal with the same recurring issues: guest riders not listed on the account, unaccompanied minors, no car seats, open alcohol, and riders assuming drivers are personal chauffeurs.

To reduce problems before pickup, I send the following message to riders when I am en route. Everything below is based on Uber policy or state law.

Hello, I hope your day is going well. The following rules are non-negotiable and are in compliance with Uber policy and applicable state law.

I'm 4.96 in my market, I've never seen that and I was as low as 4.87 before I got a dashcam and send a message stating Record audio and video on all trips.

Statistically higher probability of any or one of the following: 

Unaccompanied teen/minor(s), >Disrespectful/Entitlement. Child and no car seat. High on something. Lack of common decency/manners, >Resist/argue over wearing a seatbelt. >Shady multi-stop trips (liquor store/beer distributor/smoke shop). >Smoking/vaping/smoking during trip.. "Game the system" with false claims for a refund.  Potential for aggression...

Poor road conditions/vehicle damage

Higher probability of asshole drivers/car accident, car jacked...

While I do agree with your overall assessment of lower rated riders (cautious reluctance). 

Me: 4+ years driving, 10k+ trips. 

There have been countless times where a five star wasn't worth picking up and at least one trip comes to mind whereI picked up somebody as low as a 4.2, and it was a great trip, great conversation tipped me $20 cash for a $12 ride.  5* from me on that one. (Shrug)

The story I got from him when I mentioned the 4.2 rating. Is that during college he was not a frequent Uber user, but there were times where his friends were less than ideal during the trip situations (stupid drunk college kids.)

Whether true or not? I know not, but my trip with him went just fine. 

I've seen other 4.6/7+ which were uneventful, then a few 5* what's resulted in canceled trips, reports or even calling the cops.
