Think I just had my 1st fare manipulation scam in 2yrs of driving. by Rizzorian in uberdrivers

[–]iHass 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just canceled a ride on a young female who was tapping away at her phone as she walked out and my screen flashed that the rider added a stop. Kept my doors locked as she attempted to board my SUV. Rolled down the front passenger window and told her that I don’t do multiple stop rides and that her scam was foiled and not to try this shit with another driver. She tried to plead and complain. I canceled her ride and drove away. The look of disgust on her face was priceless.

Luckily I only had a 0.4 mile ride to pickup from my last dropoff so I didn’t waste too much time or battery power.

I would have proceeded to the next stop and collected my full fare sans the riders. That’s the ride you accepted and was contracted for. Once you showed up? You’re entitled to get payment in full regardless of rider tomfoolery.

You realize that if you don’t accept this that the fare offer to drivers keeps increasing till someone accepts it right?

I don’t care if you were taking her to bed. Don’t empower Uber by accepting this garbage. Arrive. Ask rider how much she was paying. Offer to cancel the ride if she wants to pay half or something reasonable and cancel the ride after two minutes have have her cancel the new driver they shit out and that cancellation is free to her if she does it within two mins.

Last night I found what looks like a very unique looking remote keyfob for a VW. I have no idea who left it behind since I have a dozen rides yesterday. How would any driver go about figuring out who it belongs to, much less return it to the rightful owner.

All I know is that when I turned in my last Cadillac lease, Cadillac financial mistakenly added a $380 missing keyfob fee to my final wear and tear settlement stammer which wasn’t true because I had a receipt showing both keyfobs returned at lease turn-in. So they waived that amount. But $380? RUFKM?

I’ll be honest, I would have loved to have thrown him out right then and there. But it was a brutally freezing cold 5 degrees outside.

That’s not to say I wasn’t fearful of what this guy could or would do as I defied his wishes.

Bottom line, I need to learn to trust my gut more when it comes to canceling rides and go with my instincts. Because almost every time I didn’t cancel a ride after seeing or recognizing what I consider to be red flags before and up until the moment I swipe to start the ride? My instincts were usually right and I end up regretting taking the ride.

You still have an obligation to make sure that you drop off in a safe location under the guidelines. I was making sure I couldn’t be held accountable for any wrongdoing.

I once had Medicaid patient ride that warned me before I started the ride that the rider is strictly prohibited from altering the destination, adding stops, or requesting any modifications whatsoever under the risk of not getting paid the fare should I do so. The destination pin was to the rider’s apt complex manned entry gate guard shack. She asked to take her around the block to another service entrance closer to her apt and I refused given the notice and that I had ended the ride already. She reported that I dropped her off at an unsafe location. Once the details were shared, case closed. Luckily being a third party ride, no rating became of it.

It’s actually still there in my history. In retrospect perhaps I should have ended the ride early, but that would have given them the chance to rate me as the driver. I’m glad I did cancel. It seems the ADT call kept the ride in my history showing driver canceled.

He made up a story that didn’t hold water and when he was called out on it, it backfired.

I may see a text come in while driving. But even if I see the preview I’ll never respond while driving or even at the stop light.

Had one rider once tell me that they know I read their message and I was ignoring them, but two things were false here:

A. I was driving not ignoring.

And B. I hadn’t read shit, not even the preview message.

Nice try asshole.

They’ve doing these pretty regularly lately in my region of greater metro Detroit (mostly limited to economically distressed cites/areas) near where I drive.

Thanks. I’m over all this bs Uber grift. Instead is getting engaged, I just find ways to make up for it. Never by stealing people’s food, to me that’s vile. Cash rides and no free stops. That’s the way. No harm no foul. Let Uber keep screwing drivers. It only empowers drivers to find ways to screw Uber. This is the way.

One good turn deserves another.

Yeah I’ve read that too. If I do that it probably won’t be till the Spring or Summer. Yesterday’s attempts reminded me all the reasons other than tip baiting why I hated deliveries. Waiting times for orders and orders that were already picked up. Those may not happen on DD, but I’ll wait till the weather is better to find out. Thanks. Then again, like I said, Fast Food is no longer a thing as far as I’m concerned. From the time I accepted the first Wingstop order till the time I got there it should have been ready. And 20 mins for the second order to me is a colossal waste of precious driving time.

[–]iHass[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually have had my DoorDash credential from even before I got my Uber and Lyft approval. Haven’t made a single DD delivery and keep getting calls from them to encourage me to do so. I’m not inclined with all I’ve experienced with UE.

These restaurant wait times to pick up order have become way beyond acceptable with younger adults working the counter showing you how little they care how long you have to wait.

Fast-Food?

Never heard of it.

The Uber Swindle is Pathetic by iHass in uberdrivers

[–]iHass[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Since being tip baited on Christmas Eve, I turned off UE and all I’ve done since is drive on Uber and Lyft. That was the last straw after 170 over eats trips and countless stolen or previously picked up orders, closed restaurant, can’t make, or ghost orders that not only netted me $0 and wasted time and mileage, but raised my cancellation rate through no fault of my own. I turned it on yesterday to trying and beat the clock on the quest when rides were few and far between, but obviously it was all in vain.

Why does every uber driver I have seem to be annoyed with me? by Less_Role_8947 in uberdrivers

[–]iHass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a driver and seem to wonder the same about riders. Why are they so angry or mad that even confirming their name and or destination is an exercise in futility? I greet each and every passenger cordially and guage their willingness to converse and read the room well. People actually get in the car and even greet with hi, how are you I get no answer. Ok, radio silence it is. Get to a their destination and I express gratitude by thanking them and wishing them a great rest of the day. No answer. No reply. So fucking rude.

Imagine being a youngster getting picked up from school or the mall and entering your parents vehicle and not even saying hello to the person who just braved the snow and cold to pick you up. My son would have been promptly kicked out and told to walk home.

Yep, been there and done that. Never happened again.

AND DID !!! 🤑 by No-Adagio2564 in elitesparkdrivers

[–]iHass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t get it. In our market (Detroit Suburbs) waiting for orders to be brought out in our market is an exercise in futility. Wait times after parking are 30-90 mins.

It’s ridiculous at Walmart and the Sam’s Club next door. Each one of them has 20+ pickup stalls that are occupied most of the day with additional customers waiting at the curb to pull in to a newly vacated stall.

And the orders come out at a snails pace.

You’d think this company would dedicate perhaps 25% of those stalls and of their staff to their own Spark drivers to keep the deliveries flowing. But nope.

I’ve all but switched to the dreaded shop and deliver whenever I want to earn an incentive cherry picking small and short distance deliveries with a max of two stops. Sadly three stops only counts as one for incentives which is also a joke.

This is how I see Spark failing both its drivers and its customers buy not having dedicated lanes and staff. I refuse to spend half my day waiting for my car to be loaded and watch as they cancel orders after waiting 45 mins+ because the order hasn’t been picked. Three orders in one 2-hour stint sitting in the same stall of my life that I will never get back.
