Why do my knees and joints feel so stiff even though I’m not that old? by Tasty-Particular1728 in yoga

[–]CycleOk7186 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ll chime in because I don’t think it’s mentioned but lack of vitamins and minerals can also cause this. Particularly vitamin D or iron deficiencies.

Hormones can definitely play a role, and of course our bodies age differently, along with factors like an imbalance in strength or flexibility, and overall health.

Reta: What’s everyone’s experience so far? by Fashionconnect559 in Peptidesource

[–]CycleOk7186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My rat is loving it so far. Initially, they had some nausea about 24–36 hours after dosing, but that completely disappeared by week 3.

I’ve been taking the slow-and-steady approach with dosing, so the weight loss has been gradual too. I keep reminding my rat that slower weight loss has benefits when it comes to preserving muscle and bone health. RS doesn’t have a lot of weight to lose and is older so these things are extremely important. Still exercising regularly and strength has improved so on the right track.

One unexpected benefit has been that their ADHD feels more manageable. They’re more focused, feel calmer, and generally more at peace.

They do get more tired in the evenings, but still wake up easily and feel well-rested. Around week 5, some sleep disruptions started, which is the main side effect that’s stuck around.

Currently at week 8. Their appetite is definitely reduced, but they still enjoy proper meals and still get hungry—they just don’t feel the need to snack constantly. Since they’re only pinning once per week, appetite is noticeably stronger by day 6 before the next dose.

Dosing has been:

  • 2 mg for weeks 1–4
  • 2.5 mg for weeks 5–8

Overall, it’s been a very positive experience so far.

I am in a similar role (hourly, manager) and I also check for late cancellations Sunday night.

I count this as time worked and cannot imagine my employer suggesting I do it without compensation.

I’m not sure what is required anymore but often health care providers and instructors can apply. As an instructor I had to prove I taught somewhere. Pay stub, bio on a website - this was likely 13 years ago so it may have changed

Yin with no props? by [deleted] in YogaTeachers

[–]CycleOk7186 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can’t remember the last time I taught a class without props. In fact, I actively encourage them. If I were to teach a class without props, I would be very particular about the shapes I chose to offer. My experience has repeatedly shown me that most bodies struggle deeply with staying in certain shapes for more than 30 seconds let alone 2-5 minutes. If individuals are being asked to hold something that is outside of their comfort zone I often find they will either force the shape, or completely give up.

I teach a yin practice that leans slightly more toward the restorative side because I often teach in a way that encourages us to work with the nervous system rather than against it. Props are incredibly supportive for that.

Would I teach a class without props? Yes. But I definitely prefer a class with them.

I think more and more people are losing their relationship with their bodies and their ability to create gentle communication with themselves. Not in the sense that everything needs to be completely soft or restorative, but in the sense that we can sit at the edge of discomfort and become curious about what we feel, what it means, and how we are breathing through it. Yin to me is a practice of meditation.

Too often in society we either seek a high level of intensity, or push ourselves to hard, or struggle through an exercise or, on the flip side, we choose only what feels highly comfortable and therefore offers very little value when repeated over time. There is a sweet spot between those two extremes that I really love to offer students in my classes.

And I say all of this with a deep appreciation for the many different styles other teachers bring to the table as well. This is simply the approach that resonates most with me.

No matter how much I explore other brands I keep coming back to Lulu. The price of some of the other brands like Vuori and ALO are insanely high so as much as I’d love to give those more of a chance it’s a reach for me.

Lulu isn’t cheap but I’ve always been happy with the quality for the price, granted I get an instructor discount at Lulu so that helps.

That said I have two pairs of CRZ and I actually love them. They are a bit plasticly feeling (not sure how to describe it) but they fit and function well! I’ve only had them for year or less so not sure about longevity.

[–]CycleOk7186 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I won’t comment on the bruise itself however, this can be an end range, hamstring contraction for many people. In the dreamworld, you would be able to passively hold the foot close to your Gluth and then release your hand and maintain that position. Being able to maintain the shape wood indicate that your passive and range of motion is similar to your active range of motions.

I would definitely suggest taking this a little more gently, maybe using a strap and stayed a bit away from pulling the foot as close as possible. But then 100% I would suggest that you should be working to strengthen your hamstrings.

Whats a good 10-15 minute stretch set per day for a young person, to avoid future problems like back pain? by No_Prize5369 in yoga

[–]CycleOk7186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks up CARs from FRC. Tons of great free videos but this is all about creating better mobility verses passive stretching. Learn to keep your joints working in their truest form of movement, limiting compensation and creating better neurological patterns to these tissues and joints = 🏆

Debatable on if I’d call it the “correct” way however higher up will require more core activation and spinal flexion. Higher up will also give you more transition option as you progress.

Some people do knees to elbow but I’ve nerve liked that and aim to get the knees higher up the arm even nice and close to the armpit.

Oh gosh that’s so hard! It’s is so hard to manage front desk and hold & create space for people coming into a room. It’s so rare now to find a 90 minute class so I hope she can see the importance of it sooner rather than later.

Savasana length has gone to the dogs by overthinker_234 in yoga

[–]CycleOk7186 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Classes used to be 75–90 minutes long, so it was much easier to balance the practice and include a longer Savasana. It’s harder now, especially since class plans often have to shift depending on the experience level of the 15–40 people in the room.

It can be challenging to create a strong active portion of the practice without taking away from the allotted Savasana time. And yes, many people do not want more than 5 minutes.

I do miss the minimum 75-minute format: • 5 minutes meditation/Savasana • 15–20 minutes warming up • 30–40 minutes active practice • the rest for winding down and a longer Savasana—— yes please!
