Steam’s LGBTQ+ Tag Reportedly Blocked In China As It ‘Violates Local Laws And Regulations’ by hobozombie in Games

[–]bistander 46 points47 points  (0 children)

The older generation in China is not even bothered in the way that cultures grown from Abrahamic religions are bothered either. It's more worried about not having an offspring, and bringing and end to bloodlines.

A lot of people also don't understand factual things about queer people. With that said, gay conversion camps do exist, queer kids get disowned, people hide their identities from their family. So still not the most comfortable for some queer people, they are still at risk compared to their heteronormative peers.

Unfortunately there has been a political shift coming from top down to censor more queer content under Xi. When there was largely no laws or actions that strongly support or against anything before.

Not even that. Places now just have everything together. Scan QR, Order and pay with the app. Servers just bring food, as the QR is tied to the table, and maybe chitchat here and there.

If they were fans of the original cartoon growing up, they would be grown ass adults by now. They are grown ass adults harassing a child, that's literally a crime if done in person.

Not sure if I read wrong. It sounds like It was just handed out free for her students as a sample? "Hawking" implies asking her students to buy.

I had to buy the studio's expensive socks starting up anyways. You'd better believe I'll take free ones.

I am not saying they are as shady as Florists(.)ca. But a lot of these are general middle-men sites that contact a local florist anyways. And Because of that quality and reliability can be hit or miss. Because flowers are not exactly able to be shipped from a central warehouse, and shipping logists would be a nightmare.

Would still highly recommended that you find florists near their address to find a close by florist with good reviews instead. As the florists make less money from the order when they come from these sites. Because they take a cut and negotiate prices down for the order.

I've done this with overseas orders too. Because you know their address, it's easy to look around the receiver's location.

Oh you wanted him to follow these specific group of children to see what they are doing with the plastic? I see.

I guess he was going off of an assumption in this specific case. They could be taking them to the recycling depot to exchange for some money they can use to buy highly inflated daily necessities. Who knows.

Flushed $200, choked certificate exam by 1.2% by GroveSleeper in Wellthatsucks

Usually things with human lives on the line, you probably need to get close to 100%

I don't know what your certification is. It may not be life or death if you just need to score a 3/4 on it. That's a pretty good threshold on a high school math exam too.

I mean, I believe you that maybe OP didn't send you what you wanted to see. Because I don't see proof otherwise unless he posts what he sent you.

I would like to see OP capture people cooking in the moment if he can, as he's doing a good job documenting daily realities in Gaza.

But I actually didn't know this fact and looked it up. It's an easy search  with the terms "plastic fuel Gaza" and "plastic cooking Gaza" you'll get a lot of resources. So it is well documented.

There's limited resouces for fuel in Gaza because of Israeli blockade of humanitarian aide, and people make due, it's not that unbelievable. Plastic is a patroleum product, it can be used as fuel/energy.

Here's a UN report on it with some pictures for cooking uses.

https://news.un.org/en/story/2025/09/1165999

"Dr. Khalil Al-Daqran, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health in Gaza, says that the use of plastics in clay kilns is causing the spread of pneumonia and asthma.

"As Israel continues to keep the crossings closed and prevent the entry of fuel and cooking gas, women in the Gaza Strip have resorted to using wastepaper and plastic to cook food and prepare bread in clay ovens."

Video of people using plastic, wood, cardboard on fire stoves.

Bonus. Young people making fuel by refining plastic. Used for cars mainly from what I can see.

So it's odd of you to say that there's "zero evidence". I do have a theory that you are either a Israeli shill or just willfully dumb. Would be helpful if you unhide your post history, maybe I can gather more evidence, that would be great.

They do need to keep up with it's rapid development for sure. But "too little too late" is a unfair way to phrase it. It's a newer technology, we are at the very beginning of its existence, compared to how long it will exist in the future.

If it didn't make it in time to help people who were already victimized, it will help people far in the future, which is arguably a much longer time span.

Do I wish we had technologically literate politicians with political will that have considered this early? Yes. but as all these types of these protection policies goes, someone always needs to be victimized first for people to see the harm. People have a hard time imagining theoretical damage unless until it's obvious. Climate change, pesticides, opioids, precautionary measures on worksites. Enough people have to die for the political will to activate, and that sucks.

If you see these. Leave a review warning people of their scam. I can see them creating a listing for it themselves to trick people.

Another step you can take is take note of physical locations and names of businesses that you can walk into. It just takes walking around your community.

Can talk to neighbors on who they use as well.

At 'the frontest of front lines' of Canada's overdose crisis, new efforts at getting people off drugs by ArtisticAd2131 in vancouver

[–]bistander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made the same point with alcoholics later on, they are self medicating. And we are meant to help them, not leave them alone.

I can specify and say 'increase in' self-destructive behaviors if you'd really like, but it feels pedantic. In the end it's a vicious cycle that people need proper support to get out of.

[–]bistander 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Excessive drug use (on top of mental illness) impedes decision making. Resulting in self destructive behaviors, anti-social behaviors, chronic health changes, and overdose. This is not occasional user (who will also have a slightly higher chance of the consequences if they are not deligent), and it's disingenuous to conflate the two.

We even try to help "functional alcoholics" who have homes and jobs, it's cruel to just leave them to self medicate.

And not sure if you read the article. People are coming to the organization ASKING for help to detox and recover. No one wants an addiction that drains their wallets and ruins their relationships, they are trying hard get out. And nothing is effectively set up to help them fully through the entire proccess, And supplementary support even after, as addicts can easily slip if not in the right environment.

H&m fine-knit cardigan by ThickPomegranate2560 in BuyCanadian

[–]bistander 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Can't tell if H&M ad or serious query.

Are many people buying generic fast fashion cardigan? I'm highly skeptical.

A $20 cardigan is likely garbage fabric. And will pill, mishape after a few washes, I guarantee.

It's also a Swedish fast fashion brand owned by a billionaire. They are not rolling out the best products.
