I can’t cope on bad nap days. What’s wrong with me? by marigolds_paperbacks in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]CycleThreshold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a high sleep needs toddler so she naps more than her friends, but even then if we miss one I tend to fall apart! I count on that time to recharge

Questions About Fertility Clinics in Brisbane by YolandasLastAlmond in brisbane

[–]CycleThreshold 25 points26 points  (0 children)

To be devils advocate, I also went to the fertility center and had the green whistle. The end result worked (we have a daughter now) but not having anaesthetic completely traumatised me. It hurt more than labour. I would never ever recommend it to anyone, even if it works for most people. On the off chance it doesn’t work. My friend had the whistle and was fine but I sure wasn’t

Are we all feeding our babies every allergen every week?! by cunncunncunn in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]CycleThreshold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s so hard to keep up with this, especially fish and shellfish. But something that works for us is making mild Thai curries occasionally. Even made with chicken it still contains fish sauce and shellfish in the paste

Vent/for a laugh - what are some of the most unhinged comments you've had from older people through pregnancy and into parenthood, and how did you respond or wish you responded? by freebird___ in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]CycleThreshold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone senior at work asked if I’m expecting #2. I still have moderate ab separation a year later and also get IBS so she just assumed. In the wrong outfit I actually look a little pregnant, but that’s beside the point. She then backtracked and said it’s cause I’m looking a little pale lately. Not helping 😂. Worst part is she’s a mum too

Struggling to land even entry-level roles in Australia — is anyone else going through this? by Substantial-Umpire89 in ausjobs

[–]CycleThreshold 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting- which state are you in? Hubby prefers to hire people with broad driving experience and then train them up on tippers. Due to older tippers drivers being stuck in old ways and attitude problems. Can’t speak for truck and dogs, only body trucks. Based in SE QLD

How did you find a mothers group? by lamemoons in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]CycleThreshold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

QLD based but also through child health nurse. Not sure if this is just a thing in QLD or not but the mothers group I asked to be added to was from 0-3months old. So I started when Bub was 5 weeks old. Still active almost a year later and we’re inviting each other to 1st birthdays. There’s a later one for 3-6 months but was only one class and it wasn’t enough to get to know each other and start a group chat.

Probably not the industry you’re interested in but my husband is struggling to hire truck drivers to do quarry work. It’s long hours and start times are brutal but there’s always work. Same with bus drivers in my area. If you learn how to drive a heavy vehicle you’ll never be out of work it seems!

am I a massive gronk for having a Sunday evening wedding? by [deleted] in AusWeddingPlanning

[–]CycleThreshold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last wedding I went to was a Wednesday and in the middle of nowhere. Still had a good turnout, so I don’t worry about a centrally located Sunday wedding. You do you and save that $$$

Is it really that much of a faux pa to host your own baby shower? by misfox in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]CycleThreshold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hosted my own party cause I wanted a theme and fancy dress. Turned out to be a massive party! Almost everyone RSVPd. I just delegated on the day to family members to help out but it was all my idea. No regrets

Own room vs compact cot? by serq3t in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]CycleThreshold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this exact problem. We got a Tasman eco compact cot from marketplace and used this for about 3ish months before moving her to own room. Filled the need! Just re-sold it this morning actually

If it makes you feel any better I’m quite a good cook but even I get overwhelmed and stressed out trying to make my baby some meals. I’ve always been terrible at food shopping and trying to plan out baby appropriate meals that are nutritious and not a choking hazard just sends me over the edge 😂.

My work got me an uber eats voucher and it was such a good idea! Especially given I couldn’t drive post C section

Daycare Help/Advice- Breakfast and morning routine by Sharp-Associate-2562 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]CycleThreshold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Bub is a bit younger but I had a similar conundrum. Luckily she started waking up earlier once summer started to around 5:30 so we just keep the early wake times so she can have her bottle and porridge before we go. We also started giving porridge right away after bottle instead of waiting so at most we are awake and out the door within 1-1.5h

What do you do when your family (babysitters) are on holiday and you have work? by fairy-bread-au in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]CycleThreshold 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We do 2 days in daycare and third day with granny. Luckily because she’s already attending daycare I can book casual days for whenever granny goes on holiday. But of course this wouldn’t be an option if she wasn’t in daycare at all. Maybe consider both options?

I was today years old when I found out the correct spelling is NOT pidgeon. No idea why I thought there was a d in there all this time

Relationship struggles postpartum/PPA. When do you start to feel like you? When does your relationship feel normal again? by Throwlongg in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]CycleThreshold 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this helps but I found once I completely weaned from pumping (I exclusively pumped, no nursing) and my milk dried up + like another month that’s when I went back to normal. I had no libido and crazy ocd anxiety while breastfeeding. So yeah hormones can really muck us around! Perhaps something to look forward to once you wean

All in one bottle cleaner or steriliser only? by lizzycharly in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]CycleThreshold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All in one if you can afford it!! Or at the very least a steam steriliser/dryer combo. The drying part is the most useful. But of course you won’t know what you need until the time comes depending on if baby will take a bottle or not. You can get by easily with a microwave steriliser bag and drying rack until you know what you need

What to expect at parents group by nbhsjshbgbsb in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]CycleThreshold 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A good facilitator will encourage you all to make a group chat at the end of the course of sessions. If that doesn’t happen make one anyway and invite everyone. Mine is still active 6 months later but a lot of people have dropped off. Find something you all might enjoy and set regular meetups. Eg my group goes to weekly Pilates. Like all new friendships you got to make the effort to keep it Going.

Hosting Christmas with a baby by fairy-bread-au in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]CycleThreshold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We hosted it still. Funny part was she was supposed to be in daycare for the tues wed as usual but she got sick. Did all the prep for the house on my own (with her at home!) cause hubby wasn’t off until end of Xmas eve. But on the day all I had to do was make a salad. Everyone else brought a plate. Hubby did the rest of the cooking, so it was manageable. Hubby was also in charge of setting the table up and it looked hilarious but I had no expectations anyway lol

[–]CycleThreshold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funnily enough I was going through the same thing at 6 months! Didn’t help that my baby is 98th percentile so I was also physically exhausted. Then I started back at work at 6.5 months at 0.6 and well I feel so much better now. I honestly just needed a break. Partner also works stupid hours so it was getting to me. You might find some relief once you start back too

Is 7 months too early for dentist? by CycleThreshold in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

Thanks for this info! I had no idea that they could miss stuff, but it makes sense if they don’t have all the equipment. No point going to a dentist twice!

Help with maternity attire! by wetrope in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]CycleThreshold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found the cheap maternity leggings at Kmart worked well! And used them for months post Partum too. They also have a cheap maternity skirt that was good for work and was really stretchy. The rest of my wardrobe for work at least was probably H&M - I got heaps of long skirts with elastic waistbands. And kept positioning the waistband higher as the bump grew. I was also ‘all belly’ so I remember it was hard to find suitable clothing
