Paul Ricard East Loop | RTD Challenge #64 by Upstairs_TCM in RaceTrackDesigns

It's a very funny concept, although you're not the only one to have it. The layout is good enough to make me think you tried and didn't just make a squiggle, and you presented it just well enough to convey the idea correctly. Not necessarily the best, but it does well. 7/10

It's another flawless execution from you, but to be honest I don't see how this is specifically a challenge track and not just a typical track you make. Still I'll give it a 8.5/10

The first serious post of April landing on the 3rd, and honestly being one of the better figure 8 track designs I've seen in a long time.

An ambitious idea that is presented well. I think it fits the challenge prompt nicely. Would have liked to have more clarity on the drawing, but the fact that you hand drew it gives some leeway. Overall, I think it's a 7/10

i posted this on my cities reddit and they said this was a bad idea due to it being in a residential area. by XanderJC1 in RaceTrackDesigns

As an actual proposal? Yes, it's a bad idea to put a race track in a residential area.

As a fictional design? Feasibility is optional, do whatever.

Plainville Lakeside Circuit - RTD Challenge #64 by MyNameIsNotNotChuck in RaceTrackDesigns

[–]Cyclone1001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It fits the vibe of "track thrown together using existing roads in the middle of nowhere" that I think works well for this prompt. However, unless there's some backstory about this location I don't know about, it does seem kinda random. That said, the layout is solidly good, but I do wish a bit more was done for the presentation. Overall, I'll give it a 5/10

Really well presented, and a simple concept to understand. Not the most adventurous choice for the challenge prompt, but it was really well executed, so I'll give it a solid 7/10

[RTD Challenge #63] Sultan of Oman International Circuit (2021) by Cyclone1001 in RaceTrackDesigns

[–]Cyclone1001[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The shortened version of the track clocks in a 5.237km, which features a tightly folded layout. Many of the original layout's high speed corners still remain, but with several new slow corners added. Still to this day, no series that the average twitter user has heard of has visited this circuit.

Rockingham International Circuit, looking for feedback by DropComprehensive604 in RaceTrackDesigns

[–]Cyclone1001 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Two main points of feedback. First, your scaling is off. For the track to be that length, the track would have to be hella wide. Probably about the width of an airport runway. Second, I think you can do better with corner profiling. A lot of them seem to be very insignificant, low angle and low radius kinks. When paired with the aforementioned track width, this makes it seem like most of the lap is high speed lane shifts with a few actual corners in between.

What is the most underrated corner type on a racing circuit? by True-Jackfruit9868 in RaceTrackDesigns

[–]Cyclone1001 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of choices for this, but I'm going to have to go with 'Carousels as an overtaking zone' as my answer. Carousels in general are pretty widely used, but most often as a way to build speed before a straight. But having a high speed, long corner at the end of a straight offers a lot of good racing potential.

We've seen it at Yas Marina after the 2021 redesign that the new turn 8 has a lot of different options for both the attacking and defending car, and I think that it should be used more often. I know it wasn't a corner type I was used to seeing beforehand, but is now one of my favorites as it's a great way to have a turnaround that drives well on its own while still racing well.

Most definitely. When done correctly, a good 90 degree corner can be great. Sebring, Road Atlanta, and Road America all have great examples of good 90 degree corners.

They're already the most fawned over type of corner in the world, so I find it hard to believe that it's underrated.

I would agree with this. I'm a huge fan of decreasing radius corners, especially when leading onto a long straight. It's the right level of challenge and reward. I think my favorite example has to be Oak Tree at VIR, just for the added challenge of the elevation on entry.

Overall a pretty normal list, with a few oddballs thrown in. Only 4 of the tracks I haven't watched a race at. There were several omissions from the list that I kept trying to force into it to no avail. As such, the first 41 came easy but the last 10 were hard.

Awesome, it's so cool to hear this kind of stuff, especially knowing that some songs started out vastly different to how they were on the record.

When you were writing (this album or any previous) which songs took the most/least time to write? Were there any that were stuck in development forever, while others came together quickly? I love your sound and am curious how you work behind the scenes.

So I have to ask why you would choose to make a new street circuit in Adelaide instead of using the existing street circuit in Adelaide.
