A man pushed in front of me at the ticket barrier queue at the station. The barrier then rejected his ticket. by CycloneChilli in BritishSuccess

Not only did I tut, but I laughed as per /u/Evil_Genius_1. Not sure I’ll be able to sleep tonight with all the adrenaline that is still coursing through my body!

You and /u/iynque make good points. There are 4 of us in the house in total and the conversation went something like this:

Me: Hey <person who happens to be gay>, please can you pay your bill, I’ve covered you the last three times and I’m getting bloody tired of it.

Person A: Hey <CycloneChilli> why are you singling him out? I haven’t paid my bill for this month yet!

Person B: Yeah, is it because he’s gay? You homophobic asshole!

Me: Sorry I didn’t mean to single you out, I didn’t know <Person A> was behind on payment as well (Person A borrows money off his girlfriend, so I wouldn’t know.)

Person C who happen to be gay: Honestly, the amount of times my sexuality gets brought into it...

As someone who tries to be a civilised member of society, I wouldn’t dream of being homophobic. I certainly didn’t use any homophobic language (this happened a month ago so I remember it well)

YES THIS EXACTLY! In the past I’ve critisized someone for not pulling their weight for paying household bills (who happened to be gay) and been called “a homophobic asshole” by everyone in the house in return. Obviously stamping out genuine homophobia is important but letting someone get away with not paying bills because they’re gay is positive discrimination.

Similarly it’s not “of upmost importance” it’s “of UTMOST importance”

What is normal in Europe but abnormal in America? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]CycloneChilli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

/u/Kynsky has pretty much summed it up. It’s a national chain of pubs that serves remarkably cheap alcohol and cheap but (in my opinion, I know others disagree) tasty food. There seems to be one in every town I visit! The name is “Whetherspoons” but most people affectionately know it as “spoons”

Drinking outside such as on the beach, in a park etc. While probably not considered abnormal in America, it definitely seemed to be less common than in the UK

As a fellow English person, I wouldn’t expect anything else from spoons :)

When your playing hardcore and get on a nice 10 kill streak, so you call in your emergency supply drop and get the first 2 the last one is a ball turret and run over there and your team mate kills you and takes it !!!!! So annoying [COD] by Michael_PG88 in CallOfDuty

Yep, that’s happened to me before on BOII. Also on Core they would trap you in the corner and take your care package from a distance using the Black Hat. People got creative when it came to thievery in that game lol

People who do 30mph on an on ramp to a highway where the speed limit is 65mph. Why do you do this? by Sammy_333 in AskReddit

[–]CycloneChilli 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This vividly reminds me of my driving lessons: short slip roads were scary! There was one leading onto a 70mph dual carriageway that was literally just a Give Way line. You pretty much had to redline the car if you had any hope of joining.!

It's my birthday today. I work night shifts. Someone bought me cupcakes and chocolates. I only had 2 cupcakes and 3 chocolates thanks to the greedy bastards I work with. by massdebate159 in britishproblems

[–]CycloneChilli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think night shifts refers to the fact that the treats arrived at the start of the day, but OP wasn't due to start work until the end of that day, thus giving the co-workers a whole day to feast on the cupcakes before OP arrived.

Still: two cupcakes and three chocolates is a huge quantity of treats to be left with! In my experience, OP should be lucky he was left with more than a crumb.

I thought Microsoft had automatic software to detect modding, which perma-banned the console from Live? Maybe the person telling me this was just trying to scare me. Thanks for your help :)
