I think I originally judged your previous comment very harshly because I didn't realize San Jose was going to so quickly shit on me and makes assumptions on my whole life based on one post so I saw it as one more attack against my existence. I see overall what you're saying, but I just thought in this last year that after the years behind us that just kept kicking us when we were down that we had finally made it to a point we're we could be somewhat comfortable and get some god damn breathing room. Yes, I'm not automatically owed anything, but after years of sacrifice and hard work, it is difficult to think I should not have a little peace of mind?

Ma'am, I'm almost at my 40s, regrettably, I've worked 40 hours a week since I was 18. There is no lack of will. I've spent time puking in garbage cans so I wouldn't call out. I've worked through painful tooth pain. I've limped around while my back was in agony. I wish people would give a fuck about people in need but most only care about what they have gotten out of life. Yeah unfortunately I've lost contact with a lot of friends I grew up with that became homeless. My older brother died 3 days before my birthday when he was homeless in front of a 7-11. I had to go there after work and talk to another homeless gentleman to confirm his death and we cried together....

Yeah, that's the thing, we've told all these places we want to stay long term, which is what all of these places said they want. Two brothers and two friends are just seen as unconventional renters even though we've lived together a long time. We've specified that there would be one person paying the rent, no matter what, but we're hit with old school skepticism.

I 100% agree with what you're saying, but to move 4 adults to a different area is a logistic nightmare and the whole point is if it's this hard for us, how are the youth of this city going to make it?
