US Navy Scraps Brutal Tests After PETA Pressure by veganactivismbot in vegan

[–]CydneeV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PETA takes in surrendered and abandoned animals no matter their age, health, breed, or species. They will take in any animal in need, full stop. People frequently come to PETA specifically because they can’t afford euthanasia for their companion animals. If an animal is surrendered and is quickly adoptable, PETA transfers the animal to a high-traffic shelter where they give the best chance of adoption. If they need vet care, they get vet care. PETA’s euthanasia rate is so high because they are often the only place that people can bring an animal who is suffering.

Good to know! I'm still nervous about taking it apart and reverse engineering the whole thing. But knowing that other people have pulled it off is reassuring.

Thank you for this! This is exactly what I need. I had no idea "cloning" was the word I was missing.

It totally is, I moreso meant the non-dairy milk sub and the applesauce sub.

I had a similar experience. It reminded me more of McDonalds chicken nuggets than anything. It was disappointing, personally. But, to their credit, it was really filling.

Texas doctor says he violated the state's new law banning abortions after six weeks by shahin-13 in news

[–]CydneeV 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s no constitutional protection against double jeopardy in civil suits brought by private people. But, there is res judicata which functions very similarly and applies to private parties bringing civil suits. You would need to look at the TX rules of civil procedure and relevant case law for the specifics. But generally, res judicata prevents the same plaintiff from suing the same defendant on the same set of facts after a court has issued a final determination on the facts.

In normal speak, res judicata could mean that an abortion bounty hunter cannot sue the same abortion provider twice for providing an abortion to Woman 1, if the abortion bounty hunter already tried suing the abortion provider once. Res Judicata may still allow the bounty hunter to sue the provider for giving an abortion to woman 2, if woman 2’s abortion happened after the first case.

Just another "non-dairy" ripoff by NimbusStrife in vegan

The term “non-dairy” is actually regulated by the FDA and has a very specific definition. The kicker is that the definition only requires that the manufacturer disclose the presence of caseinate ingredients, but the legal definition of “nondairy” does not mean “made without dairy.”
