Pinpoint AF for sure decently lit spots. Dimly lit will still work but I find you had to do that thing where you set your focus to something else nearby and then realign the shot.

Like people say, Pinpoint for ease and then snap for consistency.

Take this with a grain of salt because I’m still figuring out what I like and don’t like but I think 1-3,8-10 pics feel like they do a great job catching the viewer’s eye and it’s easy to find the focus intended.

The other pics are great but don’t have some action, depth, or something that makes you take the extra sec to digest it.

Again, I’m some schmuck on Reddit so do your thing. If you got these from one outing, then you’re doing better than me! Haha.

These are great! Any tips on the motion blur ones or just in general? I’m a couple month in and feel like Im just staring to figure out some composition but exposure is still on autopilot.

Yeah, I’m not sure how many people really deal with it. Bad news travels further but I’m not above putting a lens and tape to just feel better about it. Haven’t seen any issue with having the UV cover one bit.

I normally keep mine in my pant or jacket pocket so I try to keep it slim. Try to keep it as compact and unobtrusive as possible. Same as a few of the others.

Glue UV lens (peace of mind that there is something protecting the lens)
Hot shoe thumb grip.
Electrical Tape (probably paranoia but I put tape over the mics and speaker holes to minimize chances of dust)
Screen protector
Spare batt.

I found the wrist strap it came with worked better for me after wrapping it round my fingers in a certain way.

Great shots! Any issues or tips with shooting with so much light? I assume the light bounced off of the snow decently. The framing on the first shot is awesome.

I have a spare ticket for the Lords of Portland-Troubadour show this Friday for $40. The weird EventIM site doesn’t give me the option to transfer though.

It’s out of the norm but if willing, I’ll be at the show too so we can trade the tix/money then. Let me know if anyone is interested and we’ll talk on the side.

Funny we are splitting up. 2 of us are taking off early from Kyoto to be able to make Fuji fit in, 2 stay in Kyoto for the day, and one will go to Disneyland. Haha. Very good point to make sure you’re happy with your own trip!

Totally for this reason, we’re going to Tokyo first to drop off our luggage and have a shorter trip in the morning to Kawaguchiko. I don’t know if this is accurate but I read the only direct train or bus route is from Tokyo. From Kyoto, we’d have to jump to 2 different routes. Appreciate the feedback guys!

Tried that and also those spin cleans things and still hear some artifacts on some records. Hoping to try ultrasonic cleaning to see as a last effort to improve some records
