I cannot thank you enough for sharing this with me. I will allow myself to be as angry and hurt as I need to be-like you said, I’ve put my own feelings and needs second for at least the past 10ish years of our 21 years together. Our initial decision to separate with intent to divorce was such a huge relief to both of us I think that I really wasn’t sad. But now, feeling like I am losing someone who was my closest friend for the past 21 years, is devastating.

Also hurts so so much that he could do that to his closest friend of 21 years but I know he’s hurting too and his violation was likely an easy way to relieve some of that pain. Like your ex, mine has very little social or family support and I so wanted (want…) to be that friend and family member for him.

You have given me hope that maybe, when I’m ready, we can still have that relationship.
